Travel buddies wanted to save shitshow trip!

Hey everyone, I came to Alice springs 3 days ago to do the Larapinta bit the airline lost my bags and doesn't even know where they are. I have none of my gear so hike isn't possible at this rate. I'm hoping to join people's day/longer trips to still make the most of my time here since the thing I came to do isn't working out and I'm feeling pretty upset. Somewhere to store our campervan whilst hiking the Larapinta Trail?

Hey everyone! My friend and I are planning to hike the Larapinta Trail in August/September. The full hike so 15-20 days. I was just wondering if anyone would mind us parking our van at their home whilst we complete the trail? It would be great to meet people that have also hiked the Larapinta and meet other people in Alice Springs so we could go for drinks etc. beforehand to hang out a bit! We'd really appreciate it. Even after paying transfer companies $500 for a transfer to the other end and food drops, they still don't have anywhere to hold our van during that time :( Thanks so much in advance! Lilly and Jon

Hiking in Alice Springs

I'm coming to Alice Springs in May to fulfill my lifelong dream of seeing the outback (I'm American).

I'm an avid hiker (I do aid work in very remote areas that have no road access) and would love to explore nature. Guided tours, however, is insanely expensive! I'm happy to do day trips, but how easy is it to get places? Expensive to rent a car? How easy is it to hike alone? Are there regular hiking groups to go with? I'm stoked to see Alice Springs and want to experience EVERYTHING I can without breaking the bank! Thanks
