What could I do during a layover in Istambul?

Hello everyone, I guess the title says it all. I will be in Istanbul next week for a few hours between flights and I would like to see a bit of the city, as much as possible, actually.

I arrive on Thursday 18th July a little after 5am and my next flight leaves at 2pm, so that includes quite some time to kill, including time for meals! :-)

Here is what I would like to know:

Is it difficult to get from the airport to the city? Is there a non-expensive way?
How much money should I change?
What could I do in that period of time? If you had 6 hours in Istanbul what would you definitely see?
Probably even more important, what and where would you eat?
Is it easy to get around Istanbul? I speak English, Spanish and French, but not a word of Turkish. :-(

I know the times are tricky, being a morning in the middle of the week, but I cannot just stay in the airport and wait, so anyone who can help me?

Any genuine place with popular (modern or traditional) music away from foreigners?

Hope you’re doing great. I am a Spanish guy making this trip along with my best Moroccan friend. I’m a flamenco singer and my friend sings too. We are both in love with popular/local international music. We already know several Turkish music styles but we would like to go to a local place where we can enjoy them, so for this occasion we are not interested in commercial stuff, maybe we leave that for another moment. Besides, if in that supposed place we could find food it would be much better. However it’s not a must. Our budget is limited, so we would rather look for a ‘cheap’ place. However, that would depend on the quality of the music and the ambiance. The main idea is to enjoy good local music in a genuine place which is far away from foreigners so that we can feel the genuine vibe. Of course, if you’re up to join us you’d be more than welcome!

Hi all! I come to Istambul tomorow. Alone. For the first time. Speak English and Russian. I have vacation and I wanna have a real vacation. Not only sightseeing, shopping and clubs. Things I like and want to find in Istanbul:

watch new Avengers movie
standup comedy
pub quiz
non-tourist places, like art flats or a park where folks do fire show, play guitars etc.
vine on Sunset on Bosfor
good observing point (to watch all the city from the top)
maybe even watch fresh Game Of Thrones episode together; or get beer and play Mortal Kombat
local rock band show; or hip-hop show
a good expat bar where it's supposed to come, meet a random person and say "hey, I'm a first-timer here , let's get beer and get aquented"
karaoke So, I like all the regular stuff. I want to do what locals do, want to feel the real city life, not only regular tourist things.

I'd be glad if you help me. At least, give me some web cites where I can find info about events.
