Any ideas?

Greetings, Aspen area CSers! Hello from St. Paul from a fellow longtime CSer. I'm a writer doing some research on the Aspen area (& CO Rockies in general) and wanted to ask your help.

What I’m looking for are hotels, resorts, inns, or restaurants that have unique stories that would work well for a video—a memorable concept or or story in a striking setting.

Any thoughts? I thought is anyone would know about unique and special places like these it would be Couch Surfers.

Hey Pete,

My grandfather built the Mountain Chalet in Aspen in 1954 and the hotel is still family owned. It is one of the oldest still family run hotels in Aspen and has some great stories! You can find a lot of stories about the hotel and the founder, my grandpa, in the local newspapers.

Natalie! My dad and your grandfather were classmates at Choate (or maybe Princeton?). He and my mom visited your grandfather in 1951, before the MC was finished, to see if they should move there. My dad said your grandfather bought that whole block for $500. Is this true?

My dad was a doctor, and there weren't any doctors in Aspen yet. My mom, after traveling to Aspen, said, "No Way!". She couldn't imagine living in the middle of nowhere.

I love the fact that your grandfather is still alive, and the chalet is still in the family.

Hey Mary!

Could it have been Dartmoth? Our valley really is so small! I don't remember the exact amount but I know it was cheap since most people, like you know from your parents story, thought Aspen wouldn't grow. It's crazy how things change.

Ralph actually passed away earlier this year. However, The hotel is alive and well with my grandma and family still continuing to spend time and continue Ralph's spirit of love.

Add a trip to Beaver Creek, to learn about Beano. He was a cabbage farmer, and his original cabin is still in it's original location, just north of the new Beano's Cabin at the ski resort.
