I am attending a Paul van dyk concert at 22nd feb . Let me know if you are interested?
Smithville is a quaint town nearby if you want to walk around some shops during the day. Having said that. there is plenty to do in AC in terms of Boardwalk, casinos, restaurants, shopping, etc. Here are my (winter) thoughts as a local:
The other island towns are Ventnor, Margate and Longport. (Longport is mostly residential and quiet this time of year, Margate too.) Ventnor's scene is picking up and there are restaurants and coffee shops you can look for in the local neighborhoods there. (Cafe 7311 is a well-known favorite for locals.)
The back bay/marina area in Atlantic City is home to the (very small) aquarium but you could certainly kill about 45 minutes there, but even if you skip the aquarium, I definitely recommend Gilchrist's for breakfast for the pancakes - blueberry or otherwise! (Great outdoor seating in warmer weather, too.) If you like cocktails in mason jars, Back Bay Ale House is great for happy hour.
Vagabonds, on the other end of the island, closer to the Ventnor side, has a great craft beer menu. Their food/burgers are also very good. Wingcraft is another great beer/food option that is located in The Walk (which is where the outlets are located, in the center of Atlantic City - another great way to spend the day outside of the casinos). Tun Tavern is located in the Sheraton, and is one of the oldest breweries in America. They offer their own brews.
Little Water Distillery is a wonderful new addition to AC if you like spirits. The owners are great, and they offer mixed drinks at their quaint bar.
Tennessee Ave. Beer Hall, HayDay Coffee, MADE Chocolate, Bourre, and the entire "Orange Loop" neighborhood (New York Ave./Tennessee Ave., off the Boardwalk) are all very recent additions to AC - and fun stops if you are into any of the food/beer/coffee/chocolate scene.
The Noyes Arts Garage has various art exhibits on display inside, and is also located in/near The Walk.
Stockton University Atlantic City just opened in August 2018, at Albany and Boardwalk (past Tropicana) - and it's worth walking by and seeing the new student apartments located directly on the beach and boardwalk.
Absecon Lighthouse is worth a climb. Feel the burn.
I also believe the Big Wheel is open year-round on the Steel Pier.
Let me know if you need any summer thoughts... as that changes everything... :)
