Which part in Brisbane should we live in?

Hi, Which place is the best place in Brisbane to live in for a 27/28 year old couple with a dog? We would like to live close to nature /green parks, historical buildings and cafés /restaurant. Not too far from the central and /or a bus/train/tram station. Also, it would be appreciated if the rent weren't super high. (Btw, another interest we have is scuba diving)

Cheers Moa

Mitch offers excellent advice above. Also I'm not sure whether or not they allow non unit students but the University of Queensland St Lucia has a dive club for scuba diving. Might be worth checking out.

I also moved to Brisbane recently, am in a couple (no dog unfortunately!) and we are moving to Highgate Hill - West End and South Bank are within walking distance, and not too far from the city either. South Bank station is also close. Lots of cafes and restaurants in West End. I think it's a good part of town!

Hi Moa,

It's best to consider your budget as that will determine where you can live by how much you want to spend. All of the outer city suburbs offer the things you require with close proximity. It is a small city with easy access and transport. You have Kangaroo Point, South Bank, West End, Paddington, Spring Hill, New Farm, Teneriffe, Newstead all within close distance to the city. Or look further out if you wish.

After visiting Brisbane for 3 months when I first arrived in 2014 I sepnt a great deal of time exploring, Fortitude Valley/New Farm was one of the best locations for me. Close to the city, New Farm, Kangaroo Point and by bike half an hour from West End. Plenty of jobs nearby and easy access to supermarkets and public transport. Greenslopes is also nice and around St Lucia/Paddington areas are also convenient. I have a large room available in a share house short term from 3 September till 19 September. house is in Fortitude Valley, border to Teneriffe. Suitable for single person or couples. Fully furnished clean and tidy house with everything you will need. Goodluck with your adventure

Head north side, somewhere like Boondall or Nundah or that area. Plenty of houses with yards for your dog, and plenty of train services in those locations.

Anywhere that is inner city will be very expensive! Not many places in Brisbane allow dogs, but I agree, Nundah and Sangate area is very groovy and not as expensive as other inner city suburbs. You could also try The Gap which is quite a dog friendly area as there are lots of houses and it's down the road from Paddington which is regarded as a really hip and happening suburb.

I would suggest New Farm or Paddington. Lovely areas with a lot of bars, caffees, live music and restaurants. Really chilled and not tooo much!

West End forever! Close to loads of parks which is great for dogs and a 30minute walk or 10 minute bus into the CBD. Also loads of great coffee shops, restaurants and an Aldi which is a huge bonus! Really nice vibes
