The Parthenon is a cool landmark that you won't see anywhere else except Athens, Greece. It is a full scale replica, inside and out. Of course, go see some live music. There are all types of music, not just country and bluegrass. There are museums, parks, a pedestrian bridge, great food, dive bars, touristy honky tonks, trendy shopping in gentrified neighborhoods (East Nashville, Twelve South, West End), aesthetic coffee shops with great brews (Crema, Barista Parlor, Dose, etc.), and more.
Oh...this is very exciting!! I love coffee.
I really like Opry Hotel as it is fully enclosed gardens so if it's raining or super hot/cold its always nice there.
Be prepared for lots of people if you hit boradway. Parking will be expensive unless you like to walk. If you want to walk park near the Jail downtown, its free street parking over there and most of the time its empty before 6pm. I'd just recommend to have a friend with you as you are near the bus station and a lot of people just "hang out" there. Second best parking is at the library downtown its only 5-6 dollars.
If you want to hit midtown or east Nashville (five points) those would be less crowded but less interesting.
Like Cody said, Parthenon is nice, i haven't been inside but just hanging out there and mid town is fun.
The East Nashville Crawfish Bash is May 26. It's a fun community event with crawfish, beer, and music. There's a pickin' party out at Percy Warner Park (May 25), which is one of the nicer, larger parks with plenty of trails. If you're into visiting breweries, we have several. Little Harpeth is hosting an Air Guitar Championship on the 26th. The Jazz festival is also that weekend and will be near downtown at Public Square by the courthouse.
Nice Parks: Centennial, Bicentennial, Shelby Bottoms, Cornelia Fort Airpark, Percy Warner
Tourist Attractions: Parthenon, Broadway (Tootsie's, Legend's, Robert's, Ernest Tubb)
Favorite Brunches: Kitchen Notes (Omni), Sky Blue Cafe, Marchet, The Garden Brunch Cafe
Favorite Bars/Dives: Mickey's Tavern, Rosemary&Beauty Queen, Drifters, 3 Crow, Attaboy, Hurry Back, Neighbors, CornerPub (Original)
Favorite Coffee and Ice Cream: Sip Cafe and Mike's Ice Cream <--- seriously Mike needs to teach Jeni how to make ice cream. There is a Mike's store downtown as well, but if you drink coffee, just go to Sip and get both at once! :)
Shopping: 12 South, East Nashville (Shops at Fatherland)
Thank you for this advice I do love crawfish and beer hope to meet you up also.
