Is Couchsurfing Safe? An Honest Answer.
It’s a fair question, especially if you’re meeting someone new, staying in their home, or welcoming a traveler into yours.
The honest answer? Couchsurfing takes safety seriously, and you have tools to help you make informed decisions.
From references and profile verification to our 24/7 Safety Team and zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behavior, there are systems in place to help keep the community accountable.
And Couchsurfing isn’t just about staying with someone. You can start by meeting people at an Event or Hangout, joining a Community, or connecting through people you already know via Introductions. No overnight stay required.
Most importantly: you set the pace. Read references, communicate through Couchsurfing, meet somewhere public when possible, tell someone your plans, and trust your instincts.
