Hi, I hope this reply is still meaningful to you and not too late. Zurich and Basel are equally close (or far) from Gimmelwald. Geneva is about one hour further. The price is more or less proportional to the travel time. In any case take a train to Berne (from basel, zurich 1 hr, from geneva about two hours). From there, take the train to interlaken eastern station (interlaken ost). About 50 min from Bern I think. Here you can catch a small train to Lauterbrunnen (30 min). Then take the bus for around 15 mins. You will be dropped off at the cablecar station to Gimmelwald. Alltogether that will take around 3hrs from Zurich or Basel. The trains and buses mostly run at least hourly during daytime.
