Hey Hassan, I have been living in Port Elizabeth since 2010 and it is safe in most areas. Obviously you don't go walking alone in a bad area at night. I recommend you rent in Walmer, Humewood or Summerstrand area - they all close to the airport where the flight schools are. Let me know when you settled in and perhaps we can meetup for tips etc

Like any other city, there are good parts and there are bad parts. When you're here and speaking to locals, ask for advice if you're unsure about a place you want to visit. The reason why so many tourists get robbed is because they go off wandering anywhere they want and end up in unsafe areas so as long as you don't do stupid things, you'll be fine. Port Elizabeth is one of the safer cities in South Africa in my opinion.
