Ideal lead time varies. Life changes rapidly in this city. Don't be offended when the request you made a month ago gets canceled the week of.

Duration. It's quite a turn off when a potential guest asks for more than a week. Are you offering to share rent payment? Ideal is there days, or less. The host can always extend longer if experience is rich. It's not a cheap city, and your staying is at the grace of the host.

All done and said, every situation is different. Just be surtious and add to the equation.

A week is nice but hard to always get. 3 to 5days is about max for me
