Hiking from Rome to Holland

Hi everyone! I'm a girl from Holland hiking back home from Rome (after hiking from Athens to Rome 5 years ago). At the moment I'm in Alsace, going North from Colmar/Neuf Brisach. It is a bit harder to find conventional accommodation in the smaller towns along the Rhine. Does anyone have any recommendations on places I cannot miss? And do people maybe have recommendations for accommodation or have a place for me? (7 July around Neuf Brisach, 8 July around Marckolsheim, 9 July around Boofzheim/Benfeld, 10 +11 July Strassbourg) I haven't used Couchsurfing in a while now and forgot how to post requests for hosts... ;) In return I can offer great stories and cook awesome meals (though I guess the French cuisine is better). Hope to hear from you!

Hallo peeps! I'm planning a roadtrip for this summer, and I'm looking for inspiration for the itinerary. See details ;)

As mentioned, le grand tour de Germany > France > Switzerland > Austria > Czech Republic > and back up north.. This post is only about the Saarland/Black Forest (DE) and Lorraine/Alsace (FR) regions. Please have a look at the following pic to see the itinerary that I thought of, so far: http://imgur.com/a/xbmlw

I'll be moving by car, carrying a bike. I'm looking for scenic routes, hiking areas, memorable sights. I don't mind history/technical museums, but I'm not really into folklore or arts.

The (flexible) idea, so far, is as follow:

  • Coming from the north, drive through the start of the Mosel Weinstrasse (if coming from Koblenz), or the Rhengau area (if coming from Mainz).

  • Pass through the fortified village of Rodemack, in Lorraine (FR)

  • Verdun, learn about the history aspect + World centre for Peace, Liberty and Human Rights

  • Backtracking a bit, pass through Metz, for its cathedral and castle

  • Still moving east, a visit to Völklinger Hütte

  • North Alsace, Regional Natural Park of Vosges du Nord

  • Back to DE, Baden-Baden, and a section of the Badische Weinstrasse

  • at the height of Durbach and the Kinzig Valley, leave DE for good and move towards Le Struthof, a concentration camp in north Alsace

  • Move south through the Alsace wine road, through Colmar, an eventually into the hearth of Natural Park of the Ballon des Vosges

I'd like to hear your thoughts about this itinerary, and possible gems hidden in its path. I realize it's not an efficient route, but the large detours are due to Verdun, and the wish not to miss (at least a part) of the Badische Weinstrasse.

Thoughts? :)

Working in les vendages

Hi! I'm looking for places where to work as a vendangeur in France for the 2016 season.

Has anyone any information or telephone numbers of people looking for vendangeurs and vendangeuses appart from the pole-emploi offers?

I have no experience on this but I'm living in Chile (until august) and I have seen lots of people doing this work, I really want to learn and work on this! :)

I know it is easier to find where to work if we are a group of people, so I made one with other catalans interested in working there. Nous parlons et comprenons un peu le français, it's just I don't feel confortable writting (and destroying) your beautiful language :P

Any tip or contact info will be helpful for sure. Merci beaucoup!
