Looking for a good place to park a car and ride into Manhattan from the north

I am driving to Manhattan from Montreal and would like to find the nearest park and ride facility where I can hopefully leave the car for a couple of days for free.

Couple days for free is going to be really rough and get tedious. You're going to have to put it in a lot or park it in another borough like Brooklyn but even then you're going to have to be careful about leaving it there for a few days .. But if you do leave it in BK you can always hop around by subway or via (like uber but ride sharing so most rides come out to $5 from 125 all the way to lower east side) hope this helps but for the most prt a car will become annoying in Manhattan. Metered parking is .25 for 15 mins

I live in Yonkers, near the Ludlow station on the Metro North Hudson Line (30 minutes to Grand Central). It's possible to park on the street here in Ludlow Park and walk to the station, and as long as you choose the correct side of the street (to avoid the Monday/Thursday alternate side of street parking) you could leave it for a few days without getting ticketed or towed. Of course as others note, there's no guarantee it won't get broken into. This neighborhood is pretty good, but there's always some risk.

Another option would be to use Park whiz to find someplace reasonable to park in Manhattan. If you're willing to go wherever is cheapest, you can probably find something for $20 or less per day.

I would recommend parking your car in Jersey City (NJ). The Liberty State Park park and ride commuter lot is about $3.50/day (free on weekends), and they have two 24-7 security patrol cars stationed there. The only disadvantage is you'd have to take the Hudson Bergen Light Rail from Liberty State Park to get to Exchange Place (or Hoboken), then take the PATH into WTC/Herald Square. Unfortunately, you can have CHEAP PARKING or CONVENIENT PARKING, but you can't have both. I park my car there all the time. Highly recommend.
