We have local NYE plans but thank you. this year they will do something new where will Keep all the music stages and Broadway ( main honky tonk area) blocked off and folks in the streets and also BIG SCREENS to view the Centennial park ( 1 mile away by Capital building) with free Shuittles to see the Concerts playing all night plus KIETH URBAN- Guessing 150K people?? last year was 120K I would get hotel out by airport and UBER in and out- unless you find a downtown living couch surfer. I would Not Drive. Have fun and happy New year
Thanks for the heads up! I'm already getting positive vibes from you locals.
Downtown is packed. Shoulder to shoulder. Top 3-Top 5 fireworks shows in the Nation. Live band (local and popular) playing. The music is strictly country unfortunately. They have either a music note or a guitar that drops when the countdown starts. Last couple of times it rained and either got delayed or still played. The show this year will not be on Broadway but broadway will still be packed. Number of people? Minimum 1k. Bests to uber or lyft and then walk. Traditions, besides the countdown and the live music. Nothing really.
No dropping of the ball or anything? That's too bad. Sounds like a great time otherwise!
Nashville is trying to be a NYE destination like Times Square- so it's a big party and well over 100,000 people, none of which are local (that may change with more and more people living downtown). So if you're into that huge block party atmosphere, you'd have a great time since music will be coming out of every honky-tonk. If you're lucky to have a place downtown then you are set! If you have to travel, Uber or Lyft your way and then ask the driver where is the best place to be dropped off. On crazy busy nights I always ask this of the drivers and they tend to be honest about how busy or gridlocked the streets are. There's no point sitting in traffic waiting to get dropped off when you can walk a couple blocks and be happy. Also I find that it is best to stick with cash when downtown- it is easier to stick to a budget and paying with a card is a nightmare when dozens of people are trying to get a drink from one or two bartenders. Pay with cash, leave a nice tip, and get away from the bar. And wear a diaper- yeah yeah yeah, every time I mention it people yell "gross!!" but whatever. 100,000 people in Downtown Nashville and 100 public toilets: you do the math. Grab a bag of old man diapers and pray to God you dont need to use it! But if you do, you can thank me later!! Happy New Year!
I will seriously consider diapers. Can't promise if I'll actually get myself to do it. Haha. Thanks for the heads up!

There is a dropping of a giant musical note. It will be in Germantown this year and not right by the honky tonks. Huge crowd, no place to park. Walk or take a lyft or uber.
