Hello! I'm Faisal, born and residing in the vibrant city of Baghdad. My academic journey in civil engineering led me to achieve a Master's in Environmental Engineering. My career path started with the Iraqi Engineering Union and evolved into a role as a GIS and Data Analytics Specialist at ICRC. Alongside my professional endeavors, I had volunteered in various groups in Baghdad to assist those in need, and making some events related to youth activities. My interest in technology and entrepreneurship frequently takes me to conferences and events. I'm also co-founder of the Baghdad Toastmasters Club, Furthering my education, I pursued a second Master's in GIS at Aberdeen University, aligning with my career interests. Traveling and cultural exchange is one my passions. I enjoy when guiding visitors through Baghdad's heritage areas, (Also Istanbul as I consider it my second city) Like to sharing historical tales and talking about architectural and political narratives behind them.
Iโm a 30-year-old journalist, photographer, and content director from Baghdad. I work as a reporter and photojournalist for several media organizations, and I also run my own marketing agency. One of the things I care about most is showing the world the Baghdad that I know and love โ beyond the headlines and stereotypes. For years, Iโve taken my camera with me everywhere, from early mornings until late at night, photographing the streets, people, architecture, cafรฉs, gatherings, and all the beautiful little details that make Baghdad feel alive. I also upload many of these places and photographs to Google Maps because I want people around the world to see Baghdad through my eyes. Iโve also produced video reports about young people, cultural events, sports, art, and everyday life, some of which have been published by international media organizations. But my work isnโt only about showing the happy side of Baghdad. Iโve also worked on photo stories about people who experienced loss and grief, including survivors and families affected by terrorism. All of us were affected by what happened here. But for me, one of the most powerful ways to fight that legacy is simply to keep living โ to make art, play sports, learn, create, laugh, travel, fall in love, and build a better life. Thatโs the Baghdad I want people to see. Outside of work, Iโm curious about people, cultures, music, art, photography, conversations, and unexpected experiences. I love meeting people who see the world differently from me, and Iโm always interested in hearing their stories and sharing mine. If you come to Baghdad, Iโd love to show you the city beyond the usual tourist places โ the Baghdad I actually live in.
