"Think Globally, Act Locally" I'm an easy going, laid back individual. (With the exception of when I'm hungry, in which case hand me a Snickers bar. Trust me. It's for your general well-being.) I'm an idealist. I will see good in even the worst of situations. This at times has proven to be more harmful than beneficial. Sometimes you've just got to see things for the way they are (Vipassana) and I'm constantly working on that. I am usually always looking for something new and different to do, see, and eat. I long to explore new realms, live on the brink, get out of my comfort zones, and surround myself with the undiscovered. (Doc says it's called the Shiny Ball Syndrome. Apparently, it's a debilitating disease. I'm functioning just fine though so no need to alert the parents ;)) Spontaneity is what excites me. That doesn't mean there isn't any virtue in being still. I'm also a huge gastronome. If you oooooh aaaaaah over food (good food), you're my kind of human....I think there's something so special about food. Growing it. Preparing it. Learning the history behind it. Sharing it. Savoring it. It's all really intimate and fascinating. Such a unique door into a culture, home, and hearts. I hope to offer as much positive Couchsurfing experiences as I would like to experience myself!
CURRENT MISSION To have delightful, and fulfilling experiences with people in different cities around the world, while meeting new friends and staying positive, inspired, and enlightened. Travel is healing, challenging and fulfilling especially when paired with serendipitous encounters. ABOUT ME I create inspirational and exciting stories through performance, poems, short stories and, compelling music . -- I love to dance, learn new skills, and travel to places with inclement weather!
My friends call me Tyco. I am currently living in Nashville, though I have lived previously in NYC, Miami, Chicago, D.C., Honolulu, and Atlanta (where I was born and raised). I am unable to host anyone currently, but I continue to participate in CS events around the world. Sometimes I come across as serious, reserved, and perhaps a little bland, but I am actually quite fun, a bit goofy, and very much a big kid at heart, and I'm always up for new adventures. I am both a homebody and an avid traveler, so I feel content playing board games and card games at home just as much as I do crisscrossing the globe. I'm a drummer (www.iamtyco.com). I am also a flight attendant for a major US-based airline, so music and travel occupy a majority of my time. I enjoy meeting fellow musicians who are as passionate about their craft as I am about mine. I love animals, especially dogs--all dogs are puppies! I'm a very tolerant, open-minded person with respect for and appreciation for differences in opinions, beliefs, etc, despite my own strong opinions, which I am always willing to share (:P). I tend to have a very enthusiastic and inquisitive nature when I meet new people. I prefer to live without the stress of adhering to a strict schedule (sometimes this bothers others, but, for me, it makes dealing with life's unexpected road blocks, hiccups, and so on that much more bearable). I'm also a hardcore night owl--mornings are beautiful, but I prefer to sleep in :P Lastly, I am gay and married. My husband, Vladislav, and I share a home with our cat, Tima. My instagram: @iamtyco

CURRENT MISSION Having a growth mindset. Seeing the glass half full, instead of half empty. Appreciating what life HAS given me instead of what it hasn’t. Finding beauty all around. ABOUT ME I like good coffee, good conversations, good cheese, good wine, good books, and good walks. Culturally, I'm in that third space between the United States and Europe. Nashville is home. I like people who are comfortable with themselves, genuine, open-minded, self-aware, interested in other people and other places, kind, authentic, honest, and clean-living. Sibelius and Dvorak are two of my favorite composers. Doestovsky, Richard Rohr and Scott Peck are three of my favorite writers. PHILOSOPHY Je travaille pour vivre, et pas l’inverse, même si le travail pour moi représente une source importante de satisfaction. Always eat well. Eat meals sitting down at a table, and use silverware. Never drink coffee or tea in a paper, plastic, or other throw-away cup. Boire son café debout, c'est signe de dispute. Recycle everything. Never throw a banana peel in the trash can. Ne me donne ni richesse, ni pauvreté. There are some 8 billion of us here sharing the same planet. If we were more accepting, more trusting, more understanding of others, and less motivated by fear and self-interest, the world would surely be a better place.
