CURRENT MISSION See the World ABOUT ME I am an obsessive traveler, very liberal and love nature and animals. I began traveling in February 1999 and have been on the road the majority of the time since, although Tucson is my base. I think the world is crazy for ignoring the environment. I think traveling and meeting people of different cultures and backgrounds makes the world a better place, but I can be biased, as that is how I live! PHILOSOPHY Always look behind the next door, maybe something incredible is waiting for you.
************************************************* UPDATE - 4/27/22 SORRY, I LEFT TUCSON TO BE A MUSICIAN ON A CRUISE SHIP AND NO LONGER HAVE A HOME / PROPERTY THERE — OR ANYWHERE. REALLY. WILL HOST AGAIN WHEN I SETTLE DOWN AGAIN. Please make sure you are reading the My Home section to see if it is a good fit staying with me. ************************************************* Hi, my name is Brett Francis Larson (I go by my middle name Francis, pronounced like fron-SEES) and I'm a 38-year-old American usually found living and working abroad. I came back to the states as a PhD student studying Second Language Acquisition and Teaching (teaching foreign languages) at the University of Arizona (I also did a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and my bachelor's degree in Creative Writing Poetry and French there) but then left the program ABD (all but dissertation) and now work as a full time musician. I believe I am a very relaxed guest/person in general, unless you get me really going talking about certain topics (you'll know if you hit one haha). I love to make music, write poetry and talk about literature/languages all day. _________________________________________________ CURRENT MISSION: Go on a vacation where I don’t have to worry about when the onboard time is to get back to my ship _________________________________________________
Hi I'm not actively hosting but you're welcome to try and still message. --- I'm considerate and friendly, and like to explore the world. I recently gradated with my Masters from school in Arizona, USA for sustainable agriculture and agricultural engineering (Arid agriculture, Rainwater harvesting, hydroponics, and greenhouses). And I start my new job in May 2024! I'm doing some traveling to explore the world before I need to count vacation days. I try to eat healthy (omnivore) and meditate, I'm into personal growth and development. I like long walks, biking, exploring, badminton, tennis, etc. I like getting lost in new places and having to figure out the puzzle of where I am. I was in the Peace Corps where I lived in northern Burkina Faso for three years, that experience is very much a part of my identity. ------------ old profile: Currently I'm a Peace Corps Volunteer in Burkina Faso, West Africa. I'm living in Ouahigouya up in the north west. It's a city of 120,000 or so. I help coordinate food security grants and information for the volunteers of Burkina Faso. Before this I lived in a village near kongoussi for 2 years. I worked with an NGO and the village's (mostly women) savings & loans groups, teaching them and trainers accounting, general business stuff, agricultural product transformations (like soybeans into tofu), and worked with a group on beekeeping. That started in December, 2013.
I am unapologetically nerdy, progressive, and queer. You don't have to be anything like me, but as long you respect who I am we'll get along great :) Been on CS for 15 years now. Still love and appreciate it. Currently cannot host because I live with a partner who's not into Couchsurfing, but I keep my profile at "Maybe" because you can send me a message if you'd like to go camping in the mountains together. I'll show you my fav spots.

Please read my entire profile before requesting to stay :) Hey Everyone! So couch surfing is one of the coolest communities and experiences I've been a part of. So far 99% has been a great experience and I'm ready for more awesome experiences. Having that energy of people who are traveling in my home is both inspiring and uplifting. Here are a couple of things you should know before making a request :) I want to help people who are passionate about traveling get more out of their experience. I'm interested in people who are enthusiastic about life. My idea about Couch Surfing is that it's to support traveling, new experiences, and good conversation. If your not participating in any of those 3 maybe another host is best for you. I want to provide you with a fun space to rest, rejuvenate, cook, talk, and as a home base for your adventures around Tucson. I want to share foods, conversation, ideas, wine, beer, and enthusiasm. The key word here is Share. I'm a pretty chill person and I don't have many expectations of my guests. All I ask is you have a sense of respect and discretion for my home and hospitality. Simple things like cleaning up after yourself, respecting If I or other guests need to sleep, and providing your own Food/Drink. I live in a large 40ft (13meter) long 5th wheel trailer. It has 3 slide out sections that open it up to the size of a small apartment. It has a large kitchen and large living room, with a separate bedroom and separate bathroom. It is spacious, clean, and we'll taken care of. Please ask if you have any questions. Whether you're excited to visit Tucson or just passing through, if you've made it this far and feel good about everything I would love to be your host. Please make sure to submit an actual stay request and in your message please mention the word "Schnauzer" that way I know you read everything.
Greetings fellow couch-surfers! I'm Steph! I am what you might call a: carry-on - if someone is planning a trip, if I can I'm probably going too dabbler - I know a few things about a lot of topics tagalong- Just happy to be here with you, no matter what we're doing I do have a bit of social anxiety, which I am working on squashing!!! So if I'm awkward at first, please forgive me! I wear many hats!! Daughter, Stepdaughter, Granddaughter, Niece, Sister, Aunt, Ex-wife, Girlfriend, Friend, Colleague, etc etc!! I try not to be "stranger" for very long. :)
Welcome to Tucson!!! WE LIVE A 20 MINUTE DRIVE FROM DOWNTOWN TUCSON. you can take an Uber/Lyft ($25) or the free bus if it's running (bus line 430) I used to host a ton back in 2017 when I lived in south Dakota. Then I turned into a dirt bag traveler and it's hard to host people when you live in a bush. Now I'm getting back into it, living here in a real house again! These days I love my dirt bike, dog, boyfriend, crocheting, tending my giant tomato plant, going on night hikes and laying in my hammock. And hosting couch surfers :-)
CURRENT MISSION Settling back in Tucson in a small adobe abode. Welcoming opportunities from which to learn and grow. ABOUT ME I like people, including myself. Body awareness, nature, Movement, DIY, self care, volunteering, Stillness, Imagination, fluidity, creativity, non conformity.
= = = My Latest Updates -- to share with the amazing people/members of CouchSurfing.com = = = I have returned back to Tucson -- after my 100-day adventure on the tiny magical island of Caye Caulker, off the coast of Belize. = = = O L D PROFILE INFO (from 2015, or so?) = = = CURRENT MISSION Help transform schools and classrooms for real “learning freedoms”, for all students and teachers! ABOUT ME My "Montreal Adventure" is complete, now -- and new ones ensue now ... in Tucson, Arizona and back in Bellevue Nebraska, too (with lots of family and new friends) As always, the future is wide open -- even more, than before! And, also always -- Life is the Adventure we create! I am a most fortunate fellow, blessed in so many ways! = With plenty of superb friends, the most fascinating people! = Montreal, Quebec has been a big blessing in my recent life! = So much to Celebrate, always -- just by looking closer, with an open eager welcome for all the unknowable Perfections and Blessings, abounding all about! And this, too... "I seem to be a verb." -- quoting Buckminster Fuller http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckminster_Fuller Over the past 17 years, my life spans an amazing spectrum, bringing me ever-new awareness, with each new moment, full of surprising rewards -- for learning, gratitude, and eager celebrations. The less I seek, the more I have -- reliably, rapidly! Who knew? I love to converse about the vital questions of life... Who are we? What reality do we choose to create? ...with our inner-most thoughts, moment to moment? PHILOSOPHY Here's my favorite quote: "The key idea ... is to be in a constant state of departure, while always arriving!" -- from the film "Waking Life" To me, that quote means: To bring to every moment, that same perception, of the dual intensity, of a big transition -- that "this is the rare vital moment" which creates and is life ... just as with those moments of departure and farewell, or the long-anticipated moment of return and reunion with people we most appreciate! Also, here's my favorite definition of "Spirituality"... "To reflect, feel, and express a cosmic gratitude, to appreciate the beauty of the whole, as well as be absorbed in our own limited projects and passions -- as the ultimate happiness, and the ideal expression of emotional integrity." -- As paraphrased, from the last page of the book "True to Your Feelings" by Robert Soloman
CURRENT MISSION To better myself and my world! ABOUT ME Hi! I used to be an avid traveler, but am not as physically able now as when I travelled frequently. I am politically progressive and open-minded, somewhat spiritual but not religious. My partner and I have a home-based writing and editing business, and we create and edit text for organizations. PHILOSOPHY I believe that our purpose as a human species is to evolve so that we can survive in a changing world. I think that there are certain behaviors that contribute to our evolution, like peaceful conflict resolution, seeking to understand and appreciate those who are different from us, conserving natural resources, and taking care of our environment. When in doubt, love and compassion and a positive attitude will usually help.
I am passionate about traveling to understand the diversity of human experiences in the world. I am interested in international development, eating new foods (and learning how to cook them), and learning new languages. My hobbies include hiking, biking, reading, backpacking, running, and Juggling. Also a new one is photography! Currently my self-driven educational interests are centered around global public health, anthropological field research, Spanish, and nature.
I am an active outdoorshuman interested in exploring the world, building and working with amazing companies, and finding meaning in existence. I am easy to get along with, always clean and contribute more than my part and very comfortable in just about any situation. I love meeting fascinating people with interesting backgrounds from interesting places. I run a small company, so I am often split between putting time into that and unplugging outside when I can!
