At first, it was just about hosting travelers. A guest from Iran sharing stories over dinner. A German traveler helping my kids with their English homework. An Italian friend laughing with us around a barbecue like she had always been part of the family. One by one, strangers became friends. Meals became memories. And my living room became a small United Nations of cultures. That’s when I realized: Couchsurfing was never about offering a couch.
