I am a very energetic person. I love meeting new people, making new friends! I like to socialize. I am a very open minded person, and I am a very deep thinker.
Hi everyone, I'm Jacob! 👋 My wife Mackenzie and I are currently at home in Wilmington and accepting travelers into our home! We travel ~8 months per year and live at home in NC in the other months. Our longest trip was about 20 months from early 2022 to the end of 2023. We've traveled extensively through the Americas, Europe, and Asia and look forward to spending more time in Africa and Oceania in the years to come! When traveling, we value immersion - meeting locals, learning languages, and understanding cultures. Add to this a love of adventure and desire to stretch our budget, and the result is we always travel overland by hitchhiking or public transport and couchsurf as much as possible. We've found that CS and hitchhiking have also brought us our best memories from across the world. As we transition into a more sedentary lifestyle, we're very excited to host any traveling visitors to our beloved town. 😃 If you're a backpacker or on a long trip, we will do our absolute best to find a way to host you. We have much to give back to this community!
Hi! I am a 25 year old who is looking to move out of the SouthEast soon and I want to see some cities before deciding where to move, so I am on a big road trip to see what I like and hopefully make good friends and have good laughs along the way! I enjoy being out doors, reading, art, and am really open to whatever opportunities cross my path. I don't drink or party, so if I stay in your home you can expect me to be quiet and respectful. Lastly, I am a horrible cook, and throughout my travels am hoping to learn. So if you are a good cook and feel so inclined to teach, I would be forever grateful :D
Fun loving family guy who loves to travel, explore, and meet new people.

We're an international couple from Slovakia and America who met in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. Our love for traveling, hiking, and skiing eventually brought us to New Mexico for 12 years. And now we're enjoying the east coast while living in North Carolina. You can see some of our past adventures at http://slowviking.com.
I’m a traveler that knows the best way to explore a place is by meeting the locals!
CURRENT MISSION To live life to it's fullest while respecting those around me. ABOUT ME I grew up in West Central Illinois on a small farm during my early years and eventually moved into a small town of 150 people around age 5. I spent many of my childhood summers in Southern California which allowed me to see and experience a different perspective of life. I was in the Marine Corps Reserve while I was in college and eventually spent some time on active duty which allowed me to travel the world. I am busy working on the weekdays but otherwise I am glad to show people around town. I'm a little shy at first, but I think i'm a good host/tour guide. Weekends are best but some weekdays people may be welcome to stay. I try to go to bed by 10 most weeknights, but weekends are a toss up. Also, I have gone through the effort to be completely verified by CS, please have some elements of your profile verified if you would like to stay with me. "Fish and guests stink in three days." Benjamin Franklin PHILOSOPHY Always leave things/places better than you found them. Remember that you share a world with others so don't create and live in just your own. Be respectful of others, their possessions, their ideas, space etc. I believe in playing hard only after working hard.
CURRENT MISSION To see new places, meet new people, and do new things! ABOUT ME I love to travel, meet new people, and learn about anything.
I'm a heart led ocean enthusiast who prefers to be barefoot. My favorite color is sunset peach and my favorite flower is plumeria. I see each day as a brand new adventure no matter where I am or what I’m doing and strive to seek the magic and teachings within each moment in order to embody one of my life mantras “paradise is a mindset”
I'm a traveler by birth! My dad worked for an airline & my mom was a travel agent, so it's in my blood. I love meeting people from around the world. I backpacked through Europe as a teen, was an exchange student in High School, and have traveled to many countries over the past 50 years, plus have hosted exchange students from Indonesia when we kids were younger. I'm planning on spending the majority of my retirement seeing the world. And without a large travel budget, I'm excited for an opportunity to find couches to put my head down on at night. I hope I can do the same for someone interested in coming to Wilmington, NC, USA. A small city with great beaches, riverwalk, music, beer, wine and food. I currently have my own training and consulting business doing online professional development courses, life coaching, and helping people create sustainable self-care practices. Plus, I'm a part-time minister at a New Thought spiritual center. I'm married with 25 year old twins, 3 cats, and a few couches!
Well, I was born and raised in charlotte North Carolina. I lived over in Europe for a bit but went broke and moved back to nc :.( Anyways, hit me up. I am a licensed massage therapist, have a education in barbering, but I grew up remodeling homes. I enjoy making pop and folk art when inspired.
My husband and I moved to Wilmington, NC almost three years ago after spending most of our lives in New England. We are transplanted "northerners". We love the climate, the graciousness, and the beauty of this area and we're finding that Wilmington is much more than just a beach destination. The city is historically important having been a critical Port during the Civil War. Economically and politically it has played an important role in the south. In the past 15 years it has become a popular place for retirees from around the US because of its warm weather and lower taxes, The UNCW campus here has a student population in excess of 17,000. As a senior I am able to take classes there for free.....and I do! (French and Spanish) Wilmington has been the production site of a number of TV series and there is a healthy film industry here. We have MANY breweries and lots of restaurants of all types. Beaches are accessible and beautiful. I worked as a sales rep in the gift industry for 30 years but I am really passionate about travel and language. We have been to almost every country in South America, Mexico, many countries in Europe, and Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Hong Kong. We've been "host" parents to many students (from Kenya, China, India, Colombia, Romania, etc.) They didn't live with us but we were their "family" in the US while studying in Providence, RI (where we used to live). I work as a volunteer with refugee resettlement and I've essentially "adopted" a Syrian family with 4 children. I spend at least 6 hrs/week helping them with negotiating life (medical and dental appointments, work problems, school conferences, celebrating holidays, etc.) Yes, we are "older". Young in spirit but this is a fairly active but quiet house. We love sharing stories and welcome open-minded bur respectful guests. Every week I spend an hour speaking French with an internet language partner. I love this. I have started working in the travel industry as a consultant so I am learning about deluxe travel, too.
