*Please Read* I am unavailable to host as of June 2026 I went to university in Santa Barbara and teach history at a local school. On the weekends I like to go cycling, hiking, hangout at the beach, visit cafes and wineries, play board games, party downtown, play soccer or FIFA, and travel on road trips throughout California!
Simple and easygoing Greatest respect for all the religions , cultures and races. Strongly believe in humanity. Time flies so travel as much as you can and trust me you won't regret after decades when you look back ha-:)
Man forges his own path- mind alive to every gift; compass, ever on.
I have for you a native Californian who has a habit of traveling from time to time. A stoic who can animate to party animal, I love hanging out at places like breweries, festivals, and those things in the desert. I've been spoiled most of my life living with mountains and ocean. The combo of spirituality and logic tends to turn me skeptic. I was a conspiracy theorist before it was cool.

CURRENT MISSION To connect with the open-minded people of the world, enjoy the outdoors and teach children! To nurture a connection with nature, each other, and within ourselves. I just returned to live in my hometown of Santa Barbara, where I am looking to ground myself and start getting involved in the community. I am also planning to start a nature pre-school! ABOUT ME I love sunshine and the beach! I get the most peace and calm from being there and I could spend all day there! I love meeting new people and trying new things. I'm interested in the out-of-the-ordinary. I am into many different art forms and music, especially dancing - I love to start dance parties at the schools I teach at! Burning Man has had a huge impact on my life, as has nature, 10-day Vipassana meditation courses and Hunter S, Thompson quotes! I'm interested in getting back to our roots, living in harmony with nature, knowing ourselves and connecting with one another. PHILOSOPHY Carpe Diem, seize the day! Live and let live 'I'm positive whatever's negative gets ignored' ~ The Polish Ambassador

I’m from Toronto, Canada, and am working towards my astrophysics PhD in Santa Barbara, California! I build and test telescopes that’re searching for Earth 2.0.
I’m about people, experiencing local culture, music, food, and daily life and building real connections more than chasing landmarks. More about quieter, more meaningful experiences — walking around town, local music, meals, and relaxed environments. I love trains. Hate masks. I’m a trail runner, distance and elevation hiker, gardener, horticulturist, and arborist. I also spent years as a firefighter. Daily is morning coffee x3, a solid run or hike, then good food, a hot bath or hot springs, relaxing with a movie Tv, and resting about 10. I don’t drink or smoke (anything) and not in to being around it. I value respectful communication, open listening, and mutual respect. I’ve traveled extensively and appreciate different cultures, religions, customs, and histories. I accept good things from all traditions without needing everyone to agree on everything. I’m open minded , unwoke and value true freedom of choice and critical thinking. Hosting single people over 40 but open to all good people, Not into politics or drinking, people that wanna get drunk, smoking, and no pot. No shoes in the house and definitely not your suitcase on the bed. Nasty airport & prefer arrivals before 8:30pm.
CURRENT MISSION "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others..." Emerson ABOUT ME Open-minded, chill, athletic, somewhat introverted and shy (at least at first) but nevertheless friendly... PHILOSOPHY "My opinion is that there's no such thing as the so-called "world". People can only see their own lives, and they can only observe life from the standpoint of their own life experiences, so that our impressions of life are really only our impressions of our own life, and our impressions of the world are just our impressions of the environment we live in. At some point I wrote that this thing we call the world is really just a corner of the world; every corner of the world that people live in, like this office we're in right now, might be the whole world." --Jia Zhangke, talking about his film THE WORLD. "What would it be like to place your hand on what you wanted and take it with you, to stir up a crowd, and never return straight home?" -- William Haywood Henderson. "It is not the brains that matter most, but that which guides them -- the character, the heart, the generous qualities, progressive ideas" -- Fyodor Dostoyevsky "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover" -- Mark Twain "I tell you, the more I think, the more I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people." --Vincent van Gogh "The true voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes but in seeing with new eyes." --Marcel Proust "Pessimism of the intellect, optimism of the will"--Antonio Gramsci "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." --Ralph Waldo Emerson "This is what you shall do: love the earth and the sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to everyone that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning god, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem."--Walt Whitman, Preface, Leaves of Grass, 1855 "Don't worry if you have no answer ready To the last question. Hold out, meditate, listen. Explore. Explore. Travel the world over. Count happiness connatural to the mind More than truth is, and yet No happiness to exist without it. Walk with a cold pride Utterly ahead Wild attentive eyes Head flicked by the rain-wet Green needles of the pine, Eyelashes that shine With tears and thunders. Love people. Love entertains its own discrimination. Have me in mind, I shall be watching. You can return to me. Now go." --Yevgeny Yevtushenko, "Zima Station" Please also see my Couchsurfing Legacy profile here: https://www.couchsurfing.com/users/213626/profile/legacy
CURRENT MISSION: Explore more. I’m back in California after 2 months in Italy and Greece (October-November 2025). When in Italia, da mangiare pizza e practicare il mio italiano! ABOUT ME: Curious. Funny. Travel is my passion. I enjoy ethnic foods (always seeking a good falafel). Once a year I am a guide in Europe. I organize the French and Italian conversation groups in my town. I founded the S. B. French Festival. My websites: www.Parliamo.yolasite.com, www.SBFrenchGroup.yolasite.com PHILOSOPHY: Follow your bliss. Quit your job. Buy a ticket. Get a tan. Fall in love. Never go back. Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it. Simplify, simplify, simplify. To have more, want less. Do what you love and the money will follow. All who wander are not lost.
Currently traveling in the USA, but often traveling internationally as well. Currently planning trips to Colombia and East Africa for work this year - maybe Brasil or Mexico as well. I'm passionate about ecological restoration and regenerative agriculture. I work for a non-profit that teaches farmers techniques that help the land and increase food sovereignty. If you enjoy climbing, backpacking, or getting outside - even better! I also love dancing, mostly bachata but salsa as well. I want to learn guitar, pottery, sewing, and more yoga.
OLD BIO. I’ll UPDATE THIS SOMEDAY…. CURRENT MISSION Find Waldo! ABOUT ME I honestly never know what to write in these kinds of descriptions. My bookshelf contains satires, dramas, biographies, and whimsical comedies, many of which I picked up at various airport bookstores. I love movies, but don't own many. I make a point never to let anyone know what's in my music playlist. I had to get new pages added to my passport because I ran out of room for visas eight years before it was due to expire. I love cafes and bars and everything about them. I like museums, too. And parks. PHILOSOPHY Live and let live. Enjoy yourself, enjoy others, and enjoy the world around you. Slow down, relax, and go with the flow every once in awhile. Fight for what you truly want, and everything else will fall into place.
