Hey there! My name is Kate. CURRENTLY IN CALIFORNIA TEACHING OUTDOOR EDUCATION! I'm originally from Warwick, Rhode Island, but I've been living the seasonal guide life for the past 12 years or so. I'm all about experiencing life to the max. I love exploring new areas, working out, backpacking, climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, watching documentaries, listening to podcasts, eating donuts, snuggling puppies. With that being said, lets surf! Instagram: @katelanded
My name is Daniel and I'm from Bend, Oregon. I have been on couchsurfing since 2011 and also on warmshowers.org (bike touring specific hosting site). My wife Heidi and I just finished a multi-year bicycle tour from Oregon all the way down to Argentina, and before that we toured through SE Asia, Europe and Morocco, spent three months cycling through Central America, and backpacked the Pacific Crest Trail. Safe to say we're thoroughly addicted to the lifestyle. I'm a social studies teacher with a background in Cultural Anthropology, and I love any opportunity to learn more about other people and other ways of life through travel. Why I use couchsurfing: I've always loved meeting new people and learning about other cultures. Staying with locals is by far the best way to actually see a place. And when i'm not able to travel, it is always fun to share about my own culture and place and it helps me view it through new perspectives and learn in return. My favorite travel story: I have many stories to share, but one of my favorites was when bikepacking along a particularly remote section of the Baja peninsula in Mexico, we had a mechanical issue and had decided to walk to the next major road crossing. We were on a remote road with only one car every 6 hours and we weren't sure if anyone would come along to be able to help us, we had food and water and had accepted we may be pushing our bikes for a day and a half to the highway, when two local fisherman drove by, the first car we had seen all day, and they immediately offered us a ride. We enjoyed a 3 hour drive on the bumpy jeep track back to the nearest town while sharing stories from our travels, and hearing about their lives, one of them was working in the tele novela soap opera tv industry as an actor and the other worked and lived in the city of La Paz. Their kindness and immediate generosity to help was one of the most wonderful memories from our travels.
I’m living in Bend, OR, before Austin, TX and San Francisco, CA where I spent the last 10 years. I try to balance my time between personal projects, job, my dogs, traveling, hiking, and camping. I like to travel to new places and meeting people with different backgrounds. Even though, I‘m newish to Bend, I‘m eager to explore its cuisine, parks, social, outdoor, and music scenes with my guests. In my free time I like to be outdoors, dancing, playing sports, music festivals, photography. I also have two dogs that love having company and attention.
Trying to get back to my Roots so i can be firmly planted in the Garden of Joy

August 2026: Monthly meetups in Bend are the 3rd Thursday of each month at Commonwealth Pub October 2022: We are now accepting requests again! We are both fully vaccinated and boosted! ********************************************************************************************************************** Liana is married to Peter Werner (he also has a CS profile - https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/peter-werner). They have hosted filmmakers, actors, cyclists, family members, friends, PCT hikers, and musicians. Yes, there is a signed guest book of documented evidence. Liana is the cook, the logistical planner, and the frugal shopper. Peter heads the public relations department, and is the man-about-town on a bike. They excel at snarky banter and general smart-assery. Be prepared with your own snappy comebacks! The house is clean, mostly organized, and comfortable, with lots of houseplants. We compost and recycle, remove shoes inside the house, and ask everyone to sit (rather than stand) to urinate. We are a frugal household, in that we don't succumb to societal pressures to "consume". We don't get catalogs, don't have cable TV, we mute TV commercials, and buy "used" before "new". PHILOSOPHY "Less Vanity, More Planety." - Liana I made that up several years ago. What it means to me is that people should care less about the stuff they own and how they look, and more about the other people on earth and taking care of the planet.
CURRENT MISSION: Staying healthy (because it makes everything else easier!), spreading joy, and continually experiencing new people, places, and exciting adventures. It’s safe to say I'm a certified "Neo-Maniac"—often excited about new life experiences, new food, and fun adventures. I want to continually experience new and interesting people, places, events, and challenges! I will always promote open-mindedness, curiosity, and appreciation of others. I strive to be well rounded and to learn about the world and other cultures first hand. I'm easy going, clean, thoughtful, respectful, empathetic, and appreciative! I love teaching English while living abroad, and I will always yearn to learn. PHILOSOPHY: "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness." Mark Twain, “The best teacher is experience and not through someone's distorted point of view.... Be thankful for your experiences." Jack Kerouac "A journey is best measured in friends and smile rather than miles." Tim Cahill
Hi there! My name is Quinn and I'm a long-time Couch Surfer. I believe my first experience was Brazil, 2013. Since then, I've met lifelong friends and had some of the most epic experiences. Most of my travel has been solo and I truly feel that I've been able to be guided to the right people and places in a way that traveling with groups doesn't allow for. Fun fact -- I filled up an entire passport with solo trips back in my 20s! To me, travel is something that awakens deeper parts and new perspectives of ourselves we didn't know we had. That's (one of!) my favorite parts. I also love meeting new people, hearing their stories, eating new food, and just the spirit of exploration. One of the reasons I vibe with so many people I've met on this site! Right now, I live in Bend Oregon and work in the non-profit world. I don't travel as much as I once did, and still, I've been lucky enough to keep the friendships around the world! Some are right in Bend <3 Quick 'lil note -- My references reference my birth name (Erin). I legally changed my name to "Quinn" 8 years ago. Both Irish origin, feel much more myself now as Quinn. Same couch surfer, same heart, new name.
Hello! My name is Cayla. I’ve been traveling through the United States working as a veterinary assistant. My dog, Lila, and I go everywhere together.
********** Fully Vaxxed - Timely Boosted ********** ***Read my entire profile.*** Wow! We just returned from Christmas Market (December 2023) bonanza in southern Germany where we had three surfs! Windy, no snow, so much fun with our hosts! Boom! We hit the Marseille Invasion, April of 2023...huge CouchCrash! Surprise, we headed to Germany (winter of 2020) and got out just before COVID19 lock-downs. While there, we surfed in Kassel, Brunswick/Braunschweig, Berlin, and Dresden. We surfed Amsterdam, Bayreuth, and Prague summer of 2019. We surfed Slovenia, Austria, and 3x in Germany in 2017. I enjoy English literature, specifically Edwardian era lit. I enjoy dry, British humour, and 80's music...think New Order, Alphaville, The Cure... That is enough for a teaser, reserve the couch to get the rest of the story. I will read your entire profile. Please return the favor. PHILOSOPHY - If there is any doubt, there is no doubt. Also, we are a household of smart-asses. Fair warning.
Born from the relationship of a southern man from Cambridge and a northern woman from Lancashire, I came into the world in the latter. Only for the first four years did I stay there as my mother, after a divorce and a general dissatisfaction with the state of affairs in England during the early 90s, made the acquaintance of and married a Frenchman from Grenoble. My mother, older sister and I relocated shortly after to the outskirts of Paris and remained for the next five years. During that time, the addition of a younger brother was made. Once again after that we made a move. This time towards the South East in a small town called Digne-les-Bains. We stayed for the following 10 years during which I was given another younger brother. Having aspirations to other things than sitting in a classroom hoping to get a qualification I joined the French armed forces, serving for a year in the South West and realised it wasn't – after all – the life I wanted to pursue. Discouraged slightly from the experience I decided to go back to my home country and live with my father for a little while, hoping to achieve a generally more satisfying lifestyle. I've never regretted this and have since built up a life I'm rather happy with. I'd gained a circle of friends, not of the largest proportions but one that I hold very dearly indeed. I'd found myself a steady job in graphic design and stayed in it for six years. After that, I caught the travel bug so I capitalised on my Couchsurfing references and headed out on a 16 month backpacking trip. On my return I enrolled in university and got a degree in philosophy, met a girl, had a child, moved to Bulgaria. Those are the facts in a nutshell. A lot remains to be said about my personality which I figure is probably what people who are deciding whether they should spend time with me would rather know. Describing oneself to an outsider is not always obvious and I'd rather not just throw a bunch of adjectives around in the hope of shedding a flattering light upon myself. In brief, I would mainly say that I'm a genuinely open and non-judgemental person. Throughout my years I've associated closely with people of all different kinds. I feel I can get on with almost anybody no matter how much we have in common. The less we do, the more we have to learn about, and from, each other. I'm a very curious person, always wanting to know why things are and how they work. As a small child I'd regularly ask my mother questions such as "why is the sky blue?", "what are the stones on your rings?" and "why do farts smell bad?". Perhaps this write-up is a little long by this site's standards but hopefully it will give you an insight to who I am and an incentive to get in touch.
