HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I mostly host, but whenever I’m somewhere looking for people to hang out with, I join or host a CS event. I’ve also found it a good way to find crew for a sailing trip. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I’ve hosted since I heard about the idea at a party in 2014 and have to vouch for this way of traveling. It goes beyond a free place to stay...it is total immersion in your host's way of life. Haven't met an uncool couch surfer yet. Like hostels, couch surfing is the way to go if you want to be sociable.
