It's boring as hell, all of this living in a hotel, going to guided tours to places that are functionally dead and serve only as tourist attractions. Or eating at overpriced cafes in the city centre that the locals never use. Travelling shouldn't be only consumption. I think the only way to know a place is to meet the people living there, and you can't get this unique experience of a place any other way.
