Sharing, for me, is one of the most important sources of happiness and the key to a life worth living. When I look back, I do remember countless inspiring experiences which were only made possible thanks to other human beings. There is no better way to see life at foreign places than having direct access to the people who live there. Couchsurfing is a great way to bring people closer together in times of politics trying to focus on the differences between eachother. We are one - the borders that exist are just made up by people and therefore can be overcome by the same people as well :-)
