What have you learned from Couchsurfing?
Hi everyone, I am curious to know some of your Couchsurfing (CS) experiences. This is a safe space thread so feel free to share your stories as it may inspire and help someone or two.
I will share mine to start the conversation. I will share one memorable experience out of the dozens of experiences I've had as both a host and as a surfer.
One of my most memorable CS experience occurred a few years ago, when I hosted a woman from a Scandinavian country. She was much older than me, however she was energetic, positive, grateful, humble, and had an interesting spirit. I hosted her for a few days, it was more than enough- we made a bond, she wanted to see the city I was living in as a tourist but also wanted the local vibe; we visited some touristy areas, ate dinner together and had conversations about being a woman in her country and also in the US, employment, being a solo female traveler/ weird sketchy hosts..., views on feminism/ womanhood, art, novels, about men/ boys and so on.I learned a lot from her. Still to this day, me and her are good friends, she is always traveling and I try to travel whenever I can but its great to know that despite our cultural, ethnic differences that we share so many similarities.
What about you? What have you experienced?
