Dear Sacha I would recommend starting with the most well-know companies, since they might be best geared to navigate the sometimes complicated landscape of getting a work visa for an internship. They may also provide you with very important advice about living in South Africa. I have once offered an internship to a student from the Netherlands, but it was quite difficult and we gave up after continuous setbacks. Before you lose hope, though, this was during a time when internships were highly debated. (I think in this particular case government placed a moratorium on all work permit applications for internships at the stage. I am not sure if this has changed, but I also recommend you check with the local South African embassy before you start the process).
