What can I visit around the border of Nicaragua (name of cities), any local who are able to guide me

Hi everybody:

I would like to visit Nicaragua this weekend.

I am living in San Ramon de Alajuela and I am looking for a ride to go to Nicaragua. O bus to travel there.

I am not sure , what can I find in Nicaragua close to the border of Costa Rica. What are the name of the city close to Costa Rica-Nicaragua, and what I can find there. If somebody can solve me my question, I will be very thansfull.

Also I am looking for somebody who kindly can host me for the weekend.

Lo mas cercano a la frontera sur, o sea con Costa Rica, es San Juan del Sur, ahí puedes encontrar, playa, restaurantes de cualquier categoría, hoteles. Puedes tomar un bus al salir del área de aduanas directo a San Juan del Sur. También puedes ir a la Ciudad de Granada, que puedes caminar, es una ciudad turística y colonial, tienes el lago cerca, pero no lo recomiendo para bañar. Yo no puedo apoyarle en hospedaje porque vivo en Managua un poco mas largo. Pero cualquier información puede usar Watshapp 88501295

You can go to San Juan del Sur beach by bus. Is a very turistic beach and from there you can go to Granada also by bus, very cheap.

Gracias por la respuesta!! pensé que era peñas blancas. Me dijeron que de Liberia al borde y de ahí no se a donde ir.

Peñas Blancas se le conoce al puesto fronterizo de Nicaragua con Costa Rica. Una vez llegues las instalaciones de la frontera Tica, pasas a las instalaciones de las fronteras Nicas, conocidas como Peñas Blancas. Pero, ahi no mas, es donde haces tus tramites de ingresos y hay tiendas Duty Free (no tan baratas). Pero luego para visitar algún lugar, debes salir de esas instalaciones y no mas, afuera tomas el autobús y listo.

Liberia esta en CR, ahi muchas playas y spots turisticos. Si cruzas la frontera y llegas a Nicaragua el departamento se llama Rivas, ahi lo mejor es San Juan del Sur.

San Juan del Sur is definitely a hot spot to visit. There's plenty to do from quiet beaches to all night parties, Hiking and Zip lining, Sailing, Fishing, almost anything you can imagine.

For a little extra adventure, look into Rio San Juan boat trips.

If you want to go a little farther north into Nicaragua (1 hour by local bus), try out Isla de Ometepe in Lago de Nicaragua. There is a ferry from San Jorge, Rivas. It is a one of a kind place that is well worth the trip.

If you want a more authentic experience of Nicaragua, you should cross at Los Chiles, CR and go into the department of Rio San Juan which is less touristy than San Juan del Sur (which I dislike - just a party town in my opinion and there are much nicer beaches to see than SJdS). From San Carlos, Nicaragua, you can visit lovely riverfront towns like El Castillo (no, there's not a "castle" there but an old fortress) and Boca de Sabalos (stay at Hotel Sabalos and kayak up the river). San Carlos has a delicious "sopa de pescado" made with coconut milk at a kiosk near the immigration office. All of the restaurants on the waterfront have delicious food. You can hop over to Soletiname which is a peaceful experience: visit artisan colonies and just relax.
