Depends on where you start your tour. But if you start in a touristic place, it shouldn't be a problem..

So, I am arriving in Zurich. I was planning to rent a bike and set off to Lucerne first, and then maybe go to the nearest towns also biking. Use the train in case something unforeseen happens.

I will be going late April, or May, is that maybe to cold?

No, during this time the temperature will be between 15°C and 20°C. But April is sometimes rainy.. you never know..
