Is it possible for foreigners to find jobs and place to stay for long term stay?

Hello everyone. I will be studying in Kyoto soon and I want to go to Japan earlier. I was wondering if it is possible for a Turkish person who is interested in Japanese culture to find a job and a place for long term stay. I am fluent in English and have studied Japanese for 5 years.

I've met a traveler work as a staff at a kind of Guesthouse or Dormitory for a few weeks. He didn't get payment but got accommodation at work place. He said you can find some web pages to find those kinds of jobs. I've stayed with wwoofing somewhere. It was great time to spend with local people. I am not 100% sure about accommodation but I am sure that if you're fluent in English, you can get a teaching job pretty easy. Try some local English cram schools. It won't be that difficult! Enjoy Japan!

i'm not sure for job,though my friends get jobs for English teacher or engineer.they're British,Belgium,French and Germany …so on. how long is your term in Japan? my mom manages apartment of Japanese style in Osaka.

If you're on a student visa, you can work up to 28 hours per week, but it also depends whether your university accepts you working (ie. Before 3 first months of study). You will need to bring an application for "Permission to Engage in an Activity Other Than That Permitted by the Status of Residence Previously Granted" to immigration centre. They will assess and contact you back in a week or so. You will then have to come back with your residence card and they will stamp it (if your application is accepted), meaning you are allowed to work. You may already look for jobs, but employers will want to see the stamp before hiring you. Beware of monkey business with eikaiwas (english conversation schools), some may not ask for any documentation but it's often bad working conditions. I have found craigslist Osaka, kansaifreeads, kansaifleamarket and gaijinpot to be of interest. Good luck :)

As for flats, I found mine with a 30% discount (because I was less than 35 years old) through UR35 (I actually went through an agent called daiwa homes, they were good).

I have some friends working in Japan I guess English teacher would be most possible way to get a job Other jobs like business will be difficult without fluent Japanese and great resume Japanese companies are not so open I think

I have a room between Osaka and Kyoto if you want to rent it out? It is in a nice town, Korien , Neyagawa, 5 minutes near Keihan Line , and fully furnished. You can live between the best of both world. What do you think? Its only 40,000 yen a month. Tony
