Hello Marian,
From my 2-year experience in TS, finding parking spots specially downtown is pretty hard not just for tourists but also for locals. In any case from my point of view if you have the patience (and you don't have problems in walking some meters to your destination) you can find parking spots also on Sundays.
Then it also depends on where do you wanna go and how often you will need to use the car.
Hope this can help somehow,
Cheers
Hi!yes if you are going around Trieste by car and you come from another city it might be challenging. For locals we know some "shorcuts" places well hidden where you should not park the car but everybody does so we park the car anytime. Most of the center is arrenged with payment parking. Variable from 0.7 € per hour till 1.3€ per hour (more or less). Parking is easier to find in morning hours (6-9) when people move the car to go to work. But it depends on the zone. If you come with a car ensure its a small one its easier to park. Don't park it randomly because local police is just waiting to fine cars. We have some undergrond parkings: parking san giusto near the old roman theatre, parking foro ulpiano near Piazza Oberdan, parking of Coop market in Via Pondares, another covered parking at the beginning of Via Timeus. But they're not cheap. A good option for parking in evening hours is
Zatim ahoj. Pierluigi

Parking is forbidden both day and night, but if you park the car after 8-9 pm no problem because everybody park the car over there. If you can avoid driving much better we have a food system of buses I'm the center and they're cheap
In my experience I have to say : yes Trieste is not full of free parking because the residents keep on the cars but in compare other places this is not a big problem. For example you can find easily a park in San Giusto in the night (for free) and use the lift to go the downtown. Nothing in compare cities as Sofia where is not possible to park in the night everywhere but you have to pay 25 euro for parking of Budapest where everywhere you must pay the ticket...
True that. Don't enter the city with a car. Maybe leave your car at Opicina and then take a tramway to Trieste. It's also one of the things TO DO in Trieste... :) http://www.tramdeopcina.it/tram/pages/tt2engl.htm
