We are Matthew, Rachel, Phoebe, and Reuben. We also have two dogs Blue and Toby! Matthew is from Florida, Rachel is from England, and we met in the UK. The children, Phoebe and Reuben, were born in the UK, but we’ve lived in both countries over the years. We love people. We host more than we surf but enjoy the opportunity to surf when we get it!
I’m visiting America for a wedding of a friend living in Cincinatti and whilst across the pond I’m taking the opportunity to travel round. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel a lot of the world with some recent highlights being WWOOFing on a farm in Sweden, walking the Camino Portugues and spending 5 weeks in Japan on a medical exchange programme. However, I’ve never been couch surfing before and am very eager to join the community!
I am a medical doctor by profession and scuba diver by passion. I teach and train undergraduate and postgraduate students in medicine and related areas. The cutting edge research in genetic and physiological basis of human thinking, emotions and behaviour fascinates me and I try to be a part of it. I am a great fan and follower of contemporary political and social studies. Photography, International Travelling, Hill Walking, Playing Table Tennis & Tennis, Reading and Listening to Music are some of my hobbies. I feel as a person I am somewhat reserved but certainly not boring. I am easy to talk to and tend to communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds. For me life is a perpetual learning process propagated through seeking of knowledge & experience, introspecting, self reflecting and developing of empathy towards others. These are the essentials elements to develop insight, foresight, wisdom and a better sense of presence in the world. We generally tend to live at a superficial level but there are always deeper meanings to what we think and do; it’s just the matter of finding them :) I am doubly vaccinated against CoVID19 and have recently received my booster dose as well :)
Hi! We’re Julia and Tom, a British couple who have recently finished a 19,000 km cycling adventure from Singapore to London. 🚴♀️🚴♂️ Our journey took us through South East Asia, India, Central Asia, the legendary Pamir Highway, and Europe. For us, cycling is ultimate freedom and brings so much connection. It allows us to experience the world at our own pace, discover hidden gems, and meet amazing people along the way. We both live for an active lifestyle and love pushing ourselves with triathlons, rock climbing, trail running, and road trips in our self-converted campervan (a project we started during lockdown). Beyond adventure, we’re passionate about protecting the planet. As climate activists and vegans, we strive to live sustainably and leave a positive impact wherever we go. We’re easygoing, social, and love hearing inspiring stories from the people we meet on the road. We're looking to give back to the CS community after receiving so much kindness from people across the world. Looking forward to sharing good conversations, and hopefully, some great plant-based meals too! Happy cycling :) Julia & Tom - Sheffield, UK. CURRENT MISSION To experience and enjoy life and help others do the same. ABOUT ME We are a family of four, Dylan, Ruth, Aidan 12 and Anushka 7 living with 2 housemates, Josie and Molly. We live in an ethnically diverse part of Sheffield, not far out of town. We welcome travellers, especially families and Spanish speakers. In 2025 we travelled in Peru and Colombia for over 4 months. In summer 2026 we’re planning to travel to Italy for 2 weeks (31st July – 12th Aug) by train and keen to couchsurf some of the time. We only just started learning Italian on Duolingo. But Ruth speaks Spanish quite well and we’re hoping that might help a bit. We are a sociable family. We are keen to meet local people and experience everyday life, as well as visit touristy places. We travel quite slowly, as everything takes longer with children. We love playing music, but can't bring instruments with us. Aidan loves sport, games and writing stories. Anushka loves water and craft. We like getting out into parks and the countryside and at home we cycle a lot. We like talking and thinking, although expect this to be interrupted often by children. We would be happy to cook for you, although we are vegetarian, so not meat. We can play some games with you or teach you a song. If you have children, we would be happy to hang out with them & teach them some English too.
CURRENT MISSION To have an adventure! ABOUT ME I've never been very good at describing myself, so I asked a few friends, and the most common responses were that I'm friendly, funny, chilled, and can easily get along with anyone, no matter the circumstances :) I trust my friends - haha :) PHILOSOPHY To make the most of what I have, and to live modestly
🙋♀️💭🃏📖✍I've been working remotely for over 12 years, but since 2022 years ago I found myself nomadic! Lawyer, psychoanalyst and writer, I launched the book "A Saga da Louca" I write while traveling... I'm a forrozeiro! I love forró, a passionate Brazilian rhythm (if you don't know it, I recommend it!) I love traveling, meeting incredible people, on this journey, true friends. It's not about saving on hosting, on the contrary, it's the gain in culture, language, exchange of genuine support. Instagram: @a.viagemdossonhos @asagadalouca @thainaralimaoficial
CURRENT MISSION Live, love and experience! ABOUT ME OK, first off, Iâm a little kooky and Iâve also recently been diagnosed with Peter Pan syndrome or perhaps that should be Petra Pan, but lets not let that get in the way of what could be a great friendship! My passions include travel, people, great food, the environment, personal development and community based projects. I 'm also a keen photographer. However, Iâm a long way away from being any way decent. My friends would describe me as an open-minded experience junkie. I really love LIFE and want to live it to the full. If Iâm honest, I find inertia a tiny bit scary! q(> t let them put you in that position, Leo Buscaglia. *The light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. Ok I read the final quote recently. It had been translated into Kanji and written in cursive style (Sosho / そ
ABOUT ME I am a Brazilian cat lover living in England (with my 2 cats) trying to have a better quality of life. PHILOSOPHY Live for today. Forgive. Let it go and be happy.
After a few years of travelling and living in different places I found a home in beautiful Sheffield, where I am currently completing my PhD studies. I love being here, even the weather, which thought me an appreciation for the cold (I could have not believed myself saying that a few years back). I would describe myself as open minded, curious, and sociable. I like being physically active (cycle, climbing, run), meditate, dance Salsa, or learn something new (currently French and playing the Tabla), and so much more. I am enjoying a long and deep conversations as much as short chats. I believe that speech is just a means of communication and connection goes well beyond.
im originally from Slovakia.
CURRENT MISSION Travel and explore ABOUT ME I'm fun, friendly and sociable who enjoys travelling the world to new countries. I enjoy keeping fit and playing sports, in particular tennis, football and golf. PHILOSOPHY Life is far too short - enjoy it and don't pass up on opportunities to better yourself.
