Watch my TEDx Talk 👇 bit.ly/egtedx Connect with me on Instagram & Facebook 👇 @ehsanghavimi A lot of people call my mum a liar. They don't believe her when she tells them that I was only 7 months old when I spoke my first words. “Ab limoo.” That's what I said. That's Farsi for ‘lemon juice’. When I was a chubby two year old, I moved from Tehran, Iran to a giant block of granite that someone had carved a city into. Aberdeen, they called it. I spent my days scribbling on walls with colour pencils and my nights dreaming of scribbling on walls with colour pencils. One day, my dad bought me a construction kit. K’NEX, they called it. I made everything in the instruction manual and then I got bored. I threw the instructions out the window (where they belonged) and improvised. My proudest achievement was creating a full-size WWF championship belt. Fast forward twenty years and I was still improvising. Except now I had a haircut and I was in architecture school. One day, I saw a poster for an improvised theatre workshop. The word ‘improvised' intrigued me. But the word ‘theatre' scared the shit out of me. I almost didn't go. But I talked myself into it at the last minute. And I’m so grateful that I did. It was the most fun I’d ever had as an adult! I always felt like I had something to say but I didn't know how to say it. Improv helped me find my voice. When I graduated from architecture school, I was lost. I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. All I knew was that I didn’t want to be an architect. So I packed my life into a bag, bought a one-way ticket and hit the road. I travelled solo for a year without a plan. On the road, I met some people and had some experiences that had a profound impact on me. You can find out my full story by watching my TEDx Talk, The Story of an Improviser. I tell the story of the key moments in my life where I’ve improvised and what I’ve learned along the way.

About Me Hello! I’m Habib, originally from Pakistan and currently living in UK. I work as a researcher in electrical engineering, with a particular interest in renewable energy, power systems, and emerging technologies. I enjoy learning new things, exploring different places, and meeting people from diverse cultures. For me, travel is about much more than sightseeing—it’s about understanding how people live, sharing stories, and building genuine connections. I believe every conversation is an opportunity to learn something new. I’m respectful, tidy, easygoing, and appreciate honesty and kindness. I enjoy discussions about culture, education, science, technology, history, food, and everyday life. I also love trying local cuisine and discovering places that only locals know about. Whether I’m hosting or being hosted, I always respect house rules, personal space, and privacy. I hope to create meaningful friendships and memorable experiences through Couchsurfing. Looking forward to meeting wonderful people from around the world. Safe travels, and I hope our paths cross soon!
