* * * PLEASE READ ENTIRE PROFILE * * * 1) I like hosting hippies, weirdos, and leftists. Not normies. Normal is boring. 2) Please make sure you understand everything on my profile. If there are words you don't know, please look them up. 3) Please put time and emotional labour into your profile and requests, and get references from friends on CS who can vouch for you. I do host inexperienced surfers too, but I need to see some effort. I'm a social justice oriented translator, working in the mental health field, leading a research advisory committee, and aspiring to become an anti-violence educator for men. I studied sociology and worked with immigrants at a non-profit for a couple of years. I feel kinship with all residents of our planet, so I advocate for peace, freedom, and justice for all humans, animals, and the earth. I try to consume less and reduce my negative impact on this planet. So I'm a vegan and a freegan who recycles and bikes around :) I'm an agnostic, close to atheism, but I do have a spiritual side, and I enjoy talking about wise teachings and interesting cultures. I love hiking and I used to do rock climbing but I'm a little lazy and not very disciplined so I can't easily sustain healthy habits and activities. Same is true for yoga and meditation unfortunately. I'm trying to get back into these habits and treat myself better with better food and other nourishments. I enjoy sports. Both watching and playing. I'd say soccer and tennis are my two favourites, but I'll give any sport a chance :) My worldview is influenced by anarchism, ecofeminism, communism, anti-colonialism, primitivism, and critiques of modernity and human civilization. My place is 420-friendly and I like feeding people my home-cooked vegan food :) Of course, my place is also queer-friendly! LGBTQIA2S+ guests are more than welcome 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ Update-Nov 4, 2022: Thanks for reading so far. Please send me a song with your request so that I know you've read my profile. Any genre will do. Just something you love or been really into lately. I enjoy all kinds of music :) And don't forget to read the home section on my profile too! *I'm making a playlist out of the song recommendations by Couchsurfers. Check it out: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6nBDRbxWzpfcKUAQ0XjRsg?si=453879de7b844bb4 **I'm aware that Spotify is awful. I'm in the process of switching to a less awful (but comparatively practical) company. Suggestions are welcome! If you're a refugee claimant in Canada, please know that there are free services available for you to find housing and employment. Here is the number for COSTI (416-658-1600) and the YMCA newcomer services website (https://newcomersincanada.ca/). Good luck with everything. Peace! Update-Feb 13, 2023: In your request, please also tell me about your politics and worldview briefly, and share your thoughts on your government and political leaders.* For instance, if you're from Hungary, tell me your thoughts about Orban. If you're from India, let me know how you feel about Modi. If you're from Israeli occupied Palestinian land, please share your perspective on Zionism, etc. If you're a zionist or any other kind of nationalist, conservative, or right-winger, don't bother to send a request, because we wouldn't get along well. Israeli antifascists and peace activists are more than welcome of course! We don't choose where we are born after all :) ❤️ *: Many of us live under authoritarian and oppressive regimes, and I don't want my request to become a barrier for anyone, so if you are worried about potential backlash for criticizing your own country, we can find a safe and creative way to talk about this. One option is having a phone or video call :) ➕PLUS if you ever worked as a cop or served in the military, please let me know that in your request. This would not be a deal-breaker necessarily, but I would have more questions. You'd probably understand that I don't want any gangsters or war criminals in my house 😊 One last tip: Try to send requests for 1-2 nights initially. Many CSers (including myself) don't prefer committing to long stays before meeting in person and seeing how the vibe is. If we click well, we can extend your stay. Take care! ^.^

Leave a place better than you found it. Know yourself. Be peaceful. Express yourself. Share. Have courage. Try hard. Relax. Breathe. Trust. Give thanks.
I was born in Norway and moved to Canada with my family as a preteen. Canada is what I consider home (Toronto in specific). Lived in Austin for 9 years then to Chicago for 5 years - and just moved back to Canada! I live to travel, and if I could, I would be working remotely for the rest of my life, hopping from one country to another. Toronto tips and suggested walking path: Transportation I highly recommend buying a Presto card for $5 especially if you will be using public transport to/from airport - you can alternately use your credit card to tap directly as you enter the TTC To/from airport to the city: cheapest/quickest is UP express. Cost is $9/10 one way with Presto Card, otherwise its $12 one way. TTC subway/bus/tram cost $3 per entry Price is valid for 2 hours of travel and includes free transfers between subway to Trams as long as they are affiliated to TTC. For cheap food try this app. Stores sell leftovers for a discount:https://www.toogoodtogo.com/en-ca Here is a suggested walking path for Toronto: [ ] Distillery district [ ] St Lawrence market (good choices of food - closes by 6/7 pm) [ ] Harbourfront [ ] Beavertails (145 Queens Quay West) try the beavertail its a dessert not a real beavertail its a pastry popular in Canada [ ] CN tower from outside [ ] Royal thomson hall [ ] OCAD (Ontario College of Art and Design - beautiful building) [ ] Four seasons centre for performing arts (nice building see it from outside) [ ] Gardens of the Osgoode Hall (Osgoode Hall has the provinces highest court- see it from outside) [ ] Nathan phillips square (take a picture of the Toronto sign) [ ] Toronto city hall [ ] Toronto old city hall [ ] Eaton centre (Mall) - walk through it inside and exit to yonge and dundas square) [ ] Yonge/Dundas Square [ ] Kensington market and chinatown [ ] University of Toronto Faculty of Engineering (University of Toronto is the biggest and oldest university in Toronto) For a list of events happening in Toronto: https://www.blogto.com/events/ Also checkout https://www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/festivals-events/ You can get to Niagara Falls by Go train. Hello to my Couchsurfing friends ! my name is Adam and I’ve been traveling for sometime now. I would like to think I’m a decent adventurous traveler where I don’t really plan thing and see where the wind takes me I’m super easy going so I’m easy to host and I’m laid back host as well I’m just waiting for my next adventure and hoping to meet fellow like minded travelers on the way :) I feel like I’m very open-minded and outgoing globetrotter. My whole life I was always super fortunate to see the world Meeting amazing people often through Couchsurfing and totally random encounters which i find is the best :) Since I love to travel and to get to know different cultures I am often discovering other countries. Please tell me your dietary restrictions ( vegetarian/vegan) or yourfavorite type of food so I know you read my profile :) I personally eat everything not a picky eater. I consider myself to be a social, respectful, trustworthy and adventurous person. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my friends, watching movie working out All in all I’m someone who loves life and everything that comes with it. Traveling is my air Born and raised downtown Toronto so if you have any questions about this wonderful city just ask I’m here to help and keep this community going !
On CS since 2017, and surfing since ‘18. Moved here to Toronto on Apr’22 as a permanent resident but not sure about the ‘permanent’ thing as of now. Traveller, Foodie and an Ambivert. Been to over 10 countries. Looking for meaningful conversations and a travel companion. Planning to go to the Northern part of Canada this summer. Please feel free to buzz me in case you are planning a trip. I am all into budget travelling, and exchanging tips and tricks.
CURRENT MISSION In life, there is sorrow and laughter. Either way, it is a blessing! ABOUT ME I love to make people laugh, and have lots of fun. Also, i'm totally open for jam sessions... PHILOSOPHY Live a life worth following.
Hey! I’m currently living in a rural area about 80 km north of Toronto, enjoying a quieter pace of life before heading off on my next adventure to Fiji in October. I’m happiest when I’m outside camping, paddleboarding, or hiking. I also love to cook and have trying to up my cooking game lately. I read a lot, usually about history, psychology, personal growth, or business. I enjoy good conversations, learning how other people see the world, and meeting people with completely different lives and experiences from my own. I’m easy-going, curious, respectful, clean, and pretty independent. Pretty straight-edge as I don't drink, smoke, etc., but I'm a risk-taker in terms of other things in life like business and moving to new countries. I can host in September and early October. One thing to know: there’s no public transportation directly to my place. The nearest train station is about a 20 minute drive away, and depending on timing I may be able to pick you up. But you'd be kind of stranded here, though it's a nice place to be. There's a cat, 5 chickens, and a duck.
PLEASE READ ALL MY PROFILE BEFORE YOU WRITE TO ME PLEASE DON'T CONTACT ME IF YOU ARE A MALE TRAVELLING ALONE OR WITH OTHER MALES. CURRENT MISSION To share my home in a great city and make new friends ABOUT ME I'm a bookish introvert who really enjoys people. I am proud of my city and enjoy helping people to get acquainted with it. PHILOSOPHY Everyone has a story, and I like hearing them.
