ABOUT ME I am a very adventurous individual who, despite having a dual disability; totally blind and severely deaf in both ears,loves travelling. I've visited 150 countries alone,all 50 States of the USA, every country in both Europe and South America, and all ten Canadian Provinces alone. I have also now visited all seven of the world's continents, including Antarctica. Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING by travelling and meeting people, offering my experiences through my website and travel books and when in the UK and home, offering my couch COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE My CS experiences have been fantastic! A great way to discover people, culture and gain a human touch of kindness and friendship throughout this crazy world! Meeting new and different people from all countries, cultures/backgrounds has taught me so much about myself and allowed me to become, hopefully, more humble and appreciative of my fellow traveller and person.
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Action and war, romantic commedies, some frillers, Any clint Eastwood movies. My favourite film is Silence of the Lambs! My favourite comedy is Operation Petticoat, 1959! It's hilarious! Books: historical fiction, war fiction and factual, Cold War fiction, science fiction, Biographies. My favourite authors: Jack Higgins, Steven King, Sebastian Faulks (excelent writer), Colin Forbes, Jeffery Deaver, Tom Clancy and many others of a similar genre Music: classic rock, some heavy metal, blues, jazz, some classical. My favourite artists: Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Iron Maiden, The Who, Dire Straits, Vaccines, Mumford and Sons Modern Country: Alan Jackson, Kerry Underwood, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Travel wise, Going to the Antarctic and stepping foot on the ice covered continent was breathtaking. Crossing the Arctic Circle by ship was also cool! Finally, hiking to Angel Falls in Venezuela, which has the highest drop of any falls in the world. Took me over 5 hours, but was exhilarating . Couch surfing is a real community where people can share their experiences, show kindness and hospitality, exchange thoughts, ideas and philosophies, have fun and learn how to become better and more beautiful people. I certainly have begun this through couch surfing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I wish to share my travel experiences and my own personal view of the world from a blind person's perspective. Learn more about life, people and myself. Continue to write travel books and travel the world and maybe open my own hostel one day. Host as many people as possible from all over the world.
What I Can Share With Hosts
My small homely flat/apartment, my music collection, my humour, travel stories and experiences, my food, some time to explore the nearby beach, town and local area. A footon to sleep on!
My Interests
Travelling, writing about travel, learning about history and visiting historical places/castles/churches etc, learning about different cultures, listening to classic rock music, reading history and action fiction. Walking by the sea/ocean, going to rock concerts, undertaking out-door adventures, eating different cuisines, socialising in small groups, going to the cinema, walking in open spaces in fresh air, hiking in the wilderness, sailing, rock climbing, bungee jumping!!!
