Happily married, semi-retired. Wife has more traditional job and temperament so we travel together a lot, but I solo a lot also. Extremely extroverted and open minded. Easily bored. Fascinated by people and culture. Make new friends every day if I’m lucky. Im thoughtful, but not deep in a brooding sense. I’m genuinely happy and consider myself extremely lucky and fortunate. I’ve travelled the us pretty extensively, as well as Canada, with my wife and son (now off at school). We bought a camper when he was 8 and spend over 100 nights a year camping and travelling ever since. Now that he’s off at school, I just completed a 2 month Eastern Europe trip.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
Being a solo traveler has its positives, but also it’s negatives, including the challenge of meeting cool people in each new destination. Meeting local hosts who are travelers themselves sounds fantastic. Being able to find housing on a “Pay it forward” basis sounds too good to be true, honestly, but if that can happen, then hallelujah!. When not in my camper in the us/Canada, lodging is by far the biggest espense and therefore limiting factor in how often I can travel and for how long. I travel pretty simply, but still can’t do the 8-12 bunkroom hostel thing. :)

What I Can Share With Hosts
Passion for knowledge and a childlike curiosity that’s unusual. If this is a more straight forward transiactional question, I always try to carry at least my fair share of everything - work, enthusiasm, expense. I’m a licensed boat captain and a volunteer firefighter/Emt if that helps...
