Hello Charlotte CS, How are you doing? Who would be interested in a weekly meetup event?

I noticed that there isn't a weekly meetup in Charlotte and would like to take a poll as to how many active CSers we have here in and around Charlotte. What days do you think would work best for a weekly meetup? What days work best for you? What types of activities/ events would you like to see for our weekly meetups? In my experience, I have found that changing the event venue every week helps keep the event fresh for locals. Please comment if you would be interested in a weekly meetup, interested in helping co-host events, locations for good meetup events... Let's rebuild the Charlotte CS community.

Some activities that I would like to see if we have enough people are: kickball team, darts team, dragon boat racing team... beer tasting, wine tasting, live music, picnics, pot luck dinners...

If you see thus question, please share it with other CSers u know the more hits we get the higher up the chain it goes. Not sure why this question was put on the 2nd page well behind questions asked 11 months ago? I'm trying to bump it up. The new CS site is a bit wonky at best.

Please tell your other CS friends. Also, can you post what days are best for you and if you have any suggestions for places or events. I am very new to Charlotte and have only been to a handful of places so far.

Hi Ray, I would love to see something like this in Charlotte. It's a big city and it only makes sense that it should have a big CS community. :) I have a relatively flexible schedule. Thursday-Sunday nights work best for me. Weekends in general are flexible days, if I'm not already attending an event. I can't speak for the rest of Charlotte population though. I don't have particular venues in mind although it would be nice to see a variety of locations around Charlotte, not only South End and Uptown :) I'm North Charlotte (often overlooked for no good reason) I know a lot of breweries host yoga and beer night, pilates, cross fit, etc. I think those events would be nice to check out. I'd love to meet fellow couchsurfers with dogs at places like NODA Dog Bar, etc. More interests are festivals, kayaking or other water activities around Lake Norman. I'm up for lots of stuff. It would just be nice to get to know more people here. I hope to meet you in the future!

That sounds great. That whitewater center is very cool. But to start off I think simple meetups at a microbrew would be easier for everyone. Unfortunately, I'm going out of town soon for 2 weeks and coming back after the 4th. So I'm thinking of planning something the following week. If you'd like to help me co-host events that would be great too.

Well, let me know what you have in mind when you get back and when you plan to do the first event. Have you gotten much feedback? It seems like the Charlotte Couch Surfing community is not too active. I guess that's what you were hoping to change :) Not sure how best to get the word out though....I have some more event ideas for you and I'm always thinking so....karaoke, concerts, sporting events, hiking/camping trips, I also think it would amazing to interact more with Charlotte's foreign language speakers, conversational language learning, etc. There seems to be a lot of foreign exchange students at UNCC. Anyway, those are just some more thoughts for you. Enjoy your trip!

I've added the thread to the "discussion" section of Charlotte because the CS site is horribly managed these days. I don't even know how you found my question. Sometimes it shows up on the 2nd page and some times it doesn't show at all. I can't believe there is a full page of questions that are 11 months and older in front of my question. I'm thinking the first event will be July 13th Thursday at 8pm at Olde Mecklenberg Brewery. Let me know if that will work for you. Please let me know if you can see my discussion topic. Would you be interested in helping me co-host events? I've started communities in much smaller places with far fewer members, but it always takes at least 2 people to get it going.

Hi again, yes I see the discussion in Charlotte. Originally I saw your message because couchsurfing emails me when some posts, I guess. I don't think I would be able to commit to hosting. My husband and I travel a lot. We are going away in a few months for a big 5 month trip! But do keep me updated. Thanks
