I suggest just hit a bar till late and leave to the airport around 3 30 am from the city.

Hi Sathya, thanks for the tipp. Unfortunately the busses don't service that early... And I'm not very keen to hang around in a bar with all my luggage :D in addition I only fly to Wellington and it would be nice not be completly fucked up tomorrow morning.

But I found out, that they are not happy having you at the airport during the night.. Looks like need a hostel and a shuttle :-(

i know this is four months ago - if you need somewhere to store your luggage you could always go into hotels, they would be more than happy to store your luggage, they should be, they'd be bastards if they didn't

You could always take an Uber taxi from town to the airport. It's only a 15 min journey (max)

Alternatively, there are lots of hotel/motel options close to the airport... The closest is the Sudima hotel. Not the cheapest, but definately the closest... Just a 4 min walk.

For anyone else catching those early flights and on a low budget - the airport concourse is open 24 hrs. The cheapest option is to take a bus to the airport sometime in the evening, grab a seat and snooze till your flight is called in the morning - staying in the "INternational" area, which joins onto domestic, so will do for either types of travel. There is also an option of paying ($5? $10?) for floor space in a large room that is just off the international concourse. To stay there you have to be either arriving from a late flight, or leaving on a pre8am flight. It gets crowded in there, but does mean that you get to lie down.
