Hi, could you please recommend me some nice places to eat and listen to some good live music?

Hi guys, I'm comming to Manchester on Sunday and I'm staying here for one night only. Could you please recommend some good food places (preferably with reasonable price) I shouldn't miss? I'm not too fussy, so any kind of good food will do :) Also, I was thinking of heading to some pub/club in the evening to listen to some nice live music. Any tips for that? I would like to make the most of this trip :) If anyone would like to join me for any part of the afternoon or evening (coffee/meal/gig/anything else), feel free to get in touch. I will be on my own and this is my first time in this lovely city, so I would be more than grateful for some good company :) Have a lovely rest of the week, everyone. Míša

The northern quarter in Manchester is a great place for small quaint bars and also some good local live banks. Unfortunately I'm working or else I would have come to meet you. However I'm sure our lovely Mancunian charm will welcome you wherever you end up.

Hey man as mentioned above the manchester jazz festival is on, amazing time to come to manchester as it's always wicked! Matt and Phreds jazz club will surely have a crackin gig on, I've not been there in a while but there always used to be an amazin atmosphere in there durin the festival. they also do great pizza (i hope they start doin vegan pizza some day!!) otherwise great venues are night and day cafe, band on the wall, the deaf institute, contact theatre etc. Nice eating places include Earth Cafe, the Curry Mile on Wilmslow Road (lots of great restaurants all down the road), Oddest (or Odd?) in Chorlton, Kim By the Sea in Hulme, and probably a bunch of other places I can't afford to go to! Yeah, most places in the Northern Quarter are good for food/drink. :)

As for live music, I can highly recommend Band on the Wall (based in the Northern Quarter). They have live music on most nights of the week and it's normally pretty good. Tickets can be a bit pricy though, and you may have to book them in advance.

As for company, I'm a bit busy tomorrow but I might be free during the evening. :)

Hi Misa, My favourite place in Manchester to eat is Almost Famous, they do amazing burgers for under £10 and you definitely won't be hungry afterwards, they have one in Northern Quarter and one in Deansgate too. Good pubs for music include Deaf Insitute and Thirsty Scholar which are incredibly near Oxford Road Train Station. There's also a range of other pretty cool pubs/bars nearby, Font is a really cheap cocktail bar which is popular among students. Although there's also The Castle Hotel/ Gullivers and ton more in the Northern Quarter that is known for their live music too. If you want coffee Northern Quarter is your best bet, my favourite is the Nexus Art Cafe and the Zifferblat. I'd love to join you but I'm also working, I hope you enjoy your stay and come back soon!

I would recommend the curry mile there are SO many awesome restaurants there to eat in and are pretty reasonably priced!

I'm there around 630 if you need a friend to have a meal with.

Matt and Phreds has pizza and live music so a good shout to have both in one place. Otherwise eating in the Northern Quarter and then going to Band on the Wall can be a good shout too, you can check online what gig they have on.
