Hi all! We are a team of Baltimore CouchSurfers coming to BLINK in October with our art, and in need of crew! The Kinetic Kauchii DekoSofa is part sculpture, part performance art: a mobile (pedal-powered) three person couch, coffee table, and chandeliers, lit with thousands of LEDs, and incorporating a musical soundscape. The DekoSofa was first created for Light City Baltimore 2017, where over 2000 people rode on and engaged with the artists on the couch. Now we are bringing it to Cincinnati for BLINK, and we are actively recruiting cyclists, performers, CouchSurfers and anyone with a knack for managing crowds with whimsey and good humor, to join our crew. Crew tasks will be to be a main pilot for the couch (requiring some level of cycling muscle), clear crowds ahead of the couch for safety, and manage people’s experience getting on and off the couch. Pilots are costumed as a swamp creature and spotters are decked out in fabulous intergalactic outfits. The crew is encouraged to build and add on to the story of these roles as they perform their tasks both safely and with joyful exuberance!

This position is paid at $100 per festival night, requires participants to be available at least two nights of the four night festival (October 12-15) from 6 to midnight, and to join a team meeting either Tuesday the 10th or Wednesday the 11th for an orientation on the workings of the couch, costume fitting, and meeting the team.
