∎∎∎ ATTENTION ∎∎∎ This is a sub-event of the BIG Franconian Meeting 2025: https://www.couchsurfing.com/events/the-16th-big-franconian-meeting-2025 Please sign in, if you want to join this sub-event (and also for the BFM). It helps us a lot with the organization! ------------------------------------- Dear Couchsurfer, I am delighted that there will be another big Franconian meeting this year, and of course the annual highlight in the form of the canoeing event cannot be missed. This year, we will once again be paddling the fantastic route from Vorra-Artelshofen to Hohenstadt on the Pegnitz. ------------------------------------------ Important: The canoes must be booked in advance, so it is NOT enough to just register for the event. To secure your place, please register for the event AND transfer the money to me. Price per person is 22€. You can pay via PayPal (family and friends): chrispaypal@e.mail.de Or by bank transfer, alternatively also Revolut (please contact me personally for the bank details). Places are very limited. Please understand that I cannot refund the money if you do not participate. I will try to find a replacement. If this is not possible, you will have to cover the costs yourself. ---------------------------------------------- Schedule: The meeting point for the tour is: Schulanger 6, 91247 Vorra-Artelshofen at 11:00 a.m. Arrival by train (easiest): We will take the 10:08 a.m. train from Nuremberg to Vorra together: Nuremberg Central Station → Vorra(Pegnitz) Sat, Aug 9, 2025 RB 30 (58523) To Neuhaus(Pegnitz) Departs 10:08 a.m. Nuremberg Central Station, Track 18 Arrives 10:48 a.m. Vorra(Pegnitz), Track 1 View connection: https://www.bahn.de/buchung/start?vbid=aa3ae7c3-1f2c-459c-952f-620c05df5af5 Meeting point: 09:45 a.m. at Nuremberg Central Station in front of the DB Info counter. Ticket: - Germany ticket - Day ticket Plus Level 10 (2 people for the whole weekend) Return journey from Hohenstadt by train. Arrival by car: You can drive directly to the starting point. There are parking spaces there. After the canoe trip, the organizer will usually take you back to the starting point. Alternatively, one stop by train. Food: Please bring something to eat and, above all, something to drink (!). It can get very hot. NO GLASS BOTTLES or music boxes (nature reserve). We will also take a longer break after about 1.5 hours at a beer garden. It will probably be possible to buy something to eat and drink there: https://maps.app.goo.gl/QPwnXhrk5q5e6QqM9 However, you can also consume your own food and drinks there. General information: The tour lasts about 5 hours, including breaks. Of course, this varies depending on how fast we are. It is intended to be a leisurely tour, so please plan accordingly. The tour will take place even in bad weather, so please bring appropriate clothing. It has been very warm in recent years, but as we are mostly in the shade and the river cools us from below, it is very bearable. There is also the option of swimming in the river. Please bear in mind that we are on a river and there is therefore a possibility that you may end up swimming involuntarily. This does not usually happen, but it cannot be completely ruled out. A waterproof box is provided in which you can safely store your valuables (wallet, cell phone). Safety: The river is usually not very deep, so you can usually even stand up. In my opinion, it is therefore not really dangerous. Life jackets are not mandatory either. However, the rental company will offer you one if you feel safer wearing it. Finally, I would like to point out that participation is, of course, at your own risk. I have had nothing but positive experiences with the canoeing event in recent years and am looking forward to it again this year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. It's going to be phenomenal again this year! Best regards, see you on Saturday the 9th of August. Chris
