Hi everyone!!! :) Eva, from Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain)! Totally travel passionate and addicted (I think, like the most of people here ;)), and travelling alone since I was 17 years old. UPDATE (February 2026) ➡️ As every year I write at the walls of CS events of Carnival party of Santa Cruz de Tenerife 🎉🎭🍻 (some of them organized by me, and some other ones organized by other CSers) a lot of small advices and tips for help CSers who have never experienced it to enjoy more this (awesome 😎) party period, I have thought to write this information for the last time and do it on my profile, leaving it permanently here (together with the rest of the bunch of information and advices that from time to time someone reads 😂), as like this by one hand I save a lot of time every year 😅, and by the other hand CSers can read it always, and maybe someone at a certain point can find it (or part of it) useful, in whatever period of the year. I repeat that these small advices and tips are for the party, not for the Carnival itself and the rest of the events ❕️, just for the party, that it's carried out outdoors at the city center the most of the nights and 2 days during a period of 10 days. So... -DRESS UP! First for yourself, as if you don't do it, you are not going to enjoy the same. And second for the party and the Carnival itself, because if you don't dress up you are going to damage the environment, somehow, and also "break" the Carnival vibe. Nowadays there are A LOT of Chinese shops where you can buy some very basic costumes for a ridiculously low price, and also you have the option of being creative with some stuff that you already have and some paint. So, you have no excuse. [*For hetero men: Girls are not going to kiss you if you are not dress up! Some are going to consider you very boring, some are going to think that you are very poor or stingy (for don't spend few euros in a costume), and some are going to thing both things 😂 (so, remember: no costume 👨‍⚕️👮‍♂️🦸🏻‍♂️❌️=no kiss/es💋❌️)]. By the way, to wear just a wig or some plastic colorful glasses is NOT to be disguised. -Wear comfortable shoes (for walk and dance during hours), and, if possible, old ones or some that you don't like too much, even better if you are o.k. throwing them to the bin after partying. You can also buy some cheap ones specifically for the Carnival party, although I know that it's not very ecological 😞, but 99% you are going to walk on pee, and sometimes also on vomits 🙈. However, if you only party during the earliest hours of the Day Carnival or the (Night) Carnival, you reduce a bit this chance. -If you wear a backpack, wear it backwards. Belt pouches are very convenient, but better if you reinforce them with safety pins 🧷🧷. At some moments you are going to walk and/or dance in a crowd and you can be squeezed sometimes. The main danger is not to be robbed (that of course it can also happen), but to lose something without realizing about it. And if you are tipsy, the possibilities increase. -Bring cash 🤑. Not too much, thus (because of the explained at the previous point ⬆️), but bring some cash. Think that the party is at the street. If you buy something, most probably it will be at the fair, in a kiosk, in a stand, to an street vendor, maybe even you take a taxi... Nowadays it's possible to pay by card at some of those places, but not in all of them (besides the fact that the ones that have a payment terminal can't do too much if it stops working during the party time...). So, bringing some cash is mandatory if you want to be 100% sure about not having any issue if you want or need to make whatever payment. -Bring your own drink/s (specially if you want to drink alcohol 😉), as the Carnival party is outdoors, in some streets and squares. There are some kiosks and stands (and few "24 hours shops") where you can buy drinks, but... ·There you are going to pay more than the same (or better) drink/s bought at a supermarket. ·Many times to queue a lot is needed (so, apart of the fact of queueing, you are going to waste precious time that you could use enjoying the Carnival). ·The most of the places where you can buy drinks don't have too much options or variety of drinks and brands. ·It can happen that the place only accepts cash and you don't have it (see the previous point ⬆️). ·You avoid the possibility of have some adulterated drinks. Don't be scared about it, as it's absolutely not the rule, and when it happens it's nothing dangerous for your health, just that you can be served, for example, a brand of whisky of a lower quality than the one you have ordered or has been shown to you, or a glass of whisky that has been previously mixed with water (do you catch it, right?). So, not dangerous, but... 🙃🙃🙃 Anyway, nowadays it really rarely happens. *Important! Bring your own drink/s, but don't carry it/them in an uncomfortable way 😂. Just be practical or creative ☺️. -Women ♀️ and peeing... At the streets there are some temporary public urinals, but by one hand there are usually big queues for using them, and by the other hand they can be really disgusting... So, it's very common to pee at the street. You can try to hide yourself a bit (or not), but even if you reach, you will be always at the street full of people... If it's for you, I recommend you to wear something easy to undo and/or to take off. Also, those kind of mini urinal funnels for peeing standing up could be very useful (I have always wanted to try it 😂). If it's not for you, because you are not so flexible or in shape, or because "mentally" it's too much for you, and/or because you are scared about unwanted pictures or videos, I recommend you to go to the street urinals when you start partying, even if you don't need to go at that moment, because as early it is, less disgusting they are. So, basically, to go at the beginning to reduce the possibility of need to go later (when there are more queues and also they are more disgusting). And if nothing that I have suggested convince you, then I have THE REAL SOLUTION: Don't drink, or just drink a little bit 🤷🏽‍♀️. (Additional info: During the Carnival party the restaurants and bars that are open don't allow no customers -specially people who are partying- to use their toilets. In fact, some of them even close the toilets during the Carnival party time, and even more, some of them even close the whole place and put just a bar attached to the door for sell drinks. Totally normal and understable for locals, but maybe shocking and frustrating for non local women). Now, you are ready for party at the Carnival! 🥳☺️ UPDATE (December 2025) ➡️ Many people don't know, but for make the last hike in Parque Nacional de El Teide (the one that brings you until the peak 🌋) is needed a permit. The permit is totally free of charge, but you must apply for it. The hike is called "Telesforo Bravo" and it's the highest hike you can make in Spain 🙃. Throughout the years, the system for have this permit has changed several times. Nowadays the way for apply for it is on the website www.tenerifeon.es, and for that you need to register (to open an account) previously in this website (but it won't take you more than few minutes 😊). There are other alternatives for make the Telesforo Bravo's hike (I mean, without the permit), but this one is the standard, safer, more practical and 100% legal way. In this website (www.tenerifeon.es) you can also apply for the permit for the famous hike in Anaga "El Bosque Encantado" (El Pijaral). This (also free of charge) permit has also changed the way for apply for it over the years, and nowadays it's through this website as well. And very important! (and somehow obvious): If you want to apply for these permits you need to do it in advance (at least, if you want to be sure of book your place/s). So, not recommendable for "spontaneous people" (although never knows... try your luck anyway 😊). Also, the website www.tenerifeon.es is full of resources and information. I recommend to all CSers who are into hiking to take a look at it. UPDATE (September 2025) ➡️ Since some months ago I wanted to write this update, as I think that it would be very useful for some CSers, but somehow many times I hadn't had the suitable calm and unhurriedly free time for write it, and when I have had it I forgot to do it 😬. Now here it's go... I don't have a car nor drive license, but here in Santa Cruz people who do are crazy and/or becoming crazy (some of them literally 😬😂) because of the parking issue... In Santa Cruz is not easy to park. Of course, you can be lucky, but it won't be very probably. Santa Cruz is really well connected with public transport, so, if you want to move between the town or near the town during day hours, I recommend you to use it (and the public transport has also more benefits apart of avoiding to reach a parking place 😊). Also, I would like to recommend the tram as the best way for move yourself between Santa Cruz and La Laguna. But if you come from far, or from a more isolated place, or just need and/or want to come by car, you can try to go round and round, pay a private parking (there are many ones in the town), or park in one of this 2 places for free 😉: -One of them is Centro Comercial Meridiano, the biggest mall of the town. To park here is absolutely for free, even if you are not a customer. You are not required to make any purchase there. Since some years ago I have heard that maybe this is going to change, but until the moment it pursuits like this. So, don't worry, just park 😊. JUST BEAR IN MIND ONE THING: You are allowed to park your car there during the opening hours of the shopping center, that are very convenient, as the shopping center has several restaurants and even a cinema inside, so, it closes late, but if you leave your car "sleeping" there you will be in trouble, as this is (obviously) not allowed. This is a very good option for park your car, but I warn you that in periods of "big shopping movement" (like Black Friday and Christmas) is more difficult to find a place. -The other place, or places (because in reality are 2 attached places), are the parking places of Parque Marítimo (the lido) and Palmetum (the botanical garden). These places are public, and to park there is totally allowed and for free, even if you are not a customer of none of them, and foreign people don't know that (also even neither some locals). Here your car won't be covered, like in the shopping center, but it's a big and good place for parking in which the big most of the times you will find a place (during Carnival, New Year's Eve and so, not 100% guaranteed). BUT YOU MUST BE INFORMED AND WARNED ABOUT THIS UNFORTUNATE SITUATION: There are always some men (minimum always one, but sometimes 3 or 4), usually wearing a yellow vest, that unfortunately lie saying that they work in the parking as parking staff and tell you that you must pay them "the fee". If you are "lucky" they will tell you that the fee is "a voluntary payment" (that means that you must pay him/them, but you can choose/decide the amount -even 1€ would be fine in this case-). If you are less lucky, they will say you that the fee is 5€ or even 10€, and if you don't know that they are tricking you, you will pay them... Well, not you, for sure, because I'm informing you 🧡, but you can't immagine how much money earn these people at the expense of tricking people, mainly foreigners, of course, as they don't know about this "Spaniard" issue (it's not exclusive of Tenerife or the Canary Islands), and also many of them don't even speak Spanish, so, really, these people earn a lot of money with this... And if you are wondering why the police don't stop them, yes, they do, they kick them out, but after they come back... or sometimes they hide themselves or leave when they see the police and after they go back and pursuit. Anyway, you musn't pay them and you can (and must) refuse to make that payment. Just try to do it in a polite/kind/friendly way, as if not you take the risk that they break your car or so 😬. If you see them when you park, you can also tell them that you will pay when you go back to pick up your car 😉. I want to say that many of these people are homeless and/or have some problems with alcohol or drugs, but they could just ask for handouts, not to scam people! Some people realized that they have been scammed after it has happended and remain with a bad image of the lido, the botanical garden, the locals of the island and/or the island itself 💔😞. UPDATE (July 2025) ➡️ I would like to share here what I have seen today by chance in my town (Santa Cruz de Tenerife): a very new company (the employee told me that the company is open since around 2 weeks) of bikes renting 🚲🚲. I'm so happy..., because we had 2 companies in the town of that kind, but they both closed more than 10 years ago and we haven't had any other proper one since then. So, I hope that this information can be useful for some CS/s. The company is called BIKE RENTAL TENERIFE (ORANGE FOX GROUP) and it's located in Calle Dr. Allart 17 (in the very city center, but in a quiet street). They open everyday and have some (totally new) bikes, that in addition are orange! 🤙🏽😂 The prices up until now are 1 hour 5€, 1 day 20€. They have a lot of different more prices and services, and also a good temporary promotional offer, but I prefer that you check all these details by yourself, in case that you are interested, as I think that a detailed information is better not to post it here, among of many other reasons, because I don't want that it's taken as an advertisement 😅. UPDATE (May 2025) ➡️ So many years with a lack of lockers in Santa Cruz, and now they are proliferating in excess... Since August 2024 (when I posted a related update) I have seen a few more new ones. From all the ones I have seen in Santa Cruz, I think that the ones that I like most, because of practicality and location, are the super new ones that are inside C.C. Meridiano (the biggest and best mall of the town). However, they aren't the cheapest ones (11€ per day the lockers of 57x40'9x39'8 cm., and 17'50€ per day the lockers of 57x40'9x84'1 cm.), and also the service finishes at 23:59 everyday. UPDATE (May 2025) ➡️ MUNA is the only public museum in Santa Cruz that it's not for free, and also (in my humble opinion) the best museum of the island. But CURRENTLY if you visit it Fridays or Saturdays after 16:00 it's for free (since 14:00 in case of bank holidays). And it doesn't close on Mondays (in fact, it doesn't close any day, except 6 big bank holidays of the year). Both the moments in which the entrance fee is for free and the opening times and closing days of the week have both changed a lot over the years, but nowadays are like this. Anyway, the fee is super cheap, but just as a small tip 😉. As an added piece of information for the ones who are into history, the building was initially an hospital (from the XVIII Century). And for the ones who are into viral Internet stuff, since around 2'5 months you can find here the viral black devil fish. UPDATE (August 2024) ➡️ I have decided to add the following information in case that it could be useful for someone: Unfortunately (and incomprehensibly) my beautiful, loved (and super touristic) town has had a lack of left-luggage offices until a relatively short time ago. But nowadays it has some 🙌🏽: -The most recent one is called "easy LOCK". It's located in Centro Comercial Nuestra Señora de África (a modest and very basic shopping center), almost attached to the food market and less than 10 minutes walking from the Bus Station. This is the newest and the most modern left-luggage office of the town, but you must know that everything is made in a telematic way, and even that there is no one never at the place (let's say that it's a self-service), and you need to arrange everything online. More information about prices, working hours and system at www.easylocktenerife.es. -You have other option, more old school, at Centro Comercial La Ola (also other modest and very basic shopping center), at the ground floor. In reality, it's the parking of the shopping center, but it works also as a left-luggage office. This shopping center is located around 4-5 minutes from the Bus Station. For more information about prices, working hours and system, you can call (+34) 666801990. *In the first one you pay based on the size of the space you rent (the size of the locker -there are 3 sizes available-). In the second one, you pay based in the number of pieces of luggage you leave. *Your luggage can be at these places 24/7, BUT you can't bring or pick it up 24/7. Check good the opening hours of both. *We have better shopping centers in the town 🤭. Also, websites like Radical Storage and Bounce Luggage Storage are working in Santa Cruz since some time ago (in fact, the one of the parking I mentioned in reality belongs to Stasher, but it's promoted directly in the shopping center), but you need to bear in mind that the most of the partners they work with are small local business, so, consequently, the working hours offered are usually very restrictive. And for finish, if your luggage is small, if you want contact me by private for a helpful small (and legal 😅) trick 😉.

Mi objetivo actual es poder conocer otras culturas y estilos de vida, viajando por toda Europa y América Latina, quiero poder conocer gente buena vibra por la carretera, para hacer lindas amistades y compartir. Lo mejor de ser mochilera, viajera y nómada, es que te desprendes de lo material y aprendes a vivir solo con lo que puedas cargar encima, con lo justo y lo necesario, y eso sin contar todas las almas hermosas que conoces por los caminos, los paisajes maravillosos que puedes ver, madre mía que bella es la tierra y su naturaleza! Como no cuidarla, verdad? En cuantos momentos y lugares increíbles me he encontrado! Todas las cosas que aprendes de la vida viajando, idiomas, culturas, humildad, solidaridad, tolerancia, sonreír, compartir, escuchar, llorar, empatía, ver, sentir, vivir el ahora, dar valor a las cosas pequeñitas en día a día, que en el fondo son las que mas nos hacen crecer. Si le preguntas la hora a un mochilero, te dirá: AHORA! Y que al no pensar en lo material, aprendes a vivir y a ver que lo mas importante en la vida, es invisible a nuestros ojos! Muchos dicen: pero que triste viajar solo, que va! Cuando se viaja solo te conoces a ti misma y saben que? Nunca estas solo, el mundo te rodea y en los caminos vas conociendo a la familia, yo hasta tuve la suerte de encontrar al amor mochileando alguna vez. Que rico, caminar! Bueno y lo peor de ser mochilera es: que te jodes la espalda si no te cuidas las posturas y no controlas el peso que debes llevar jajajaja..... pero eso pasa en la vida real también jajajaja....Todo tiene lo suyo, verdad? Born, learn to walk, learn to sail, learn to ride, sail, ride, ride more, sail more and here we are! I have limits about what I'm able to do and I really like to the break them. Easy going and always up for some trouble! Have a thing for photography. I like a lot extreme sports, but I never watch sports. I own a dinghy sailing boat that I'll glady teach you how to sail it. Climbing for a year now and enjoying it more and more.

I like travelling and I have experience to be as couch and host. It's cool to meet new friends, investigate new cultures and places. It's cool when you can help people and people can help you. Pay it forward ! (c) At the moment, I live in Tenerife, in a picturesque village between the mountains and the ocean, with amazing views from the windows. I live with a friend; we have two rooms, and when we host guests, one of them can be available for visitors. We also have a small rule: we are vegetarians and kindly ask guests not to bring or consume meat, fish, eggs, or alcohol in the apartment. I’m always happy to treat my guests to tasty vegetarian meals.
