CURRENT MISSION Stay healthy and enjoy life. I’m Retired now, there is always home projects to do but my wife and I always find time to spend together, I try to exercise as much as I can and with my wife being a very good cook it is very hard for me to stay in shape. I enjoy riding my bike and sometimes my son and I ride with our cycling club. I play guitar and sing but it takes me a while to warm up my voice. When you come visit us be prepare to be welcome with open arms. PHILOSOPHY Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Defend the defenseless and protect the weak. Be Courteous and Polite as Manners cost Nothing. If life turns its back on you, grab it by the ass.
CURRENT MISSION I barely escaped the grave (Cancer) a few years ago, and want to live every day to the fullest ABOUT ME I live in the wine country on a 7 acre ranch. I am semi retired, so I have a very flexible schedule. I am about 15 minutes west of Santa Rosa, and about 15 minutes east of Bodega Bay, and about an hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge. I love to socialize and meet new people. I seem to keep busier in "retirement" than when I was working: traveling, socializing with groups I belong to, doing community service work, and helping others when I can. I belong to the Sebastopol Rotary, several Tall clubs, the local Harley Owners Group, SIRS, and participate in a few Meetup groups as well. Spring of 2011 I rode my motorcycle from Sebastopol to New Orleans as part of a fundraiser for Rotary's Polio Plus project to eliminate Polio from the face of the earth. I'm proud to have raised over $3500 myself, which will be matched by the Gates Foundation! I was afflicted with an incurable strain of Lymphoma (Cancer), and nearly died in 2009, so I'm taking advantage of my current good health and staying involved in LIFE. I'm so lucky to live in the most beautiful place on earth, and love to share it with others! PHILOSOPHY I'm lucky to be walking on the grass and not pushing it up, and to have seen my only son have his first child, a daughter, after my near death experience with cancer. 3 years later a grandson joined the family, and I am so lucky to be watching them grow up!
CURRENT MISSION I like to laugh. I aim to laugh more everyday. And smile a lot too. ABOUT ME I am a goofy happy outdoorsy kind of person, always trying to brighten my day and others and lessen the negativity. I enjoy biking, hiking, breakdancing, making experimental music, writing lyrics/spoken word, making art - digitally and traditionally, etc etc, and not in that order. I have two awesome sons, and super lovey yellow Labrador retriever part time who all absorb a lot of my love and focus, rightfully so...they are my light in life and are so very super awesome and full of premium goodness. :) PHILOSOPHY Stay in the moment, live in the now. Enjoy life and appreciate everything it throws your way, the good and the bad.
Adventurous semi-retired professional elder currently between homes while traveling quite a bit and planning next steps. I am a mystic, meditator, and organic vegetarian foodie.

CURRENT MISSION To meet and make new friends around the world while exploring new places. I feel an integral part of discovering a new culture is to make a connection with its people. So many good experiences have taught me this. ABOUT ME I am a lover of world travel & cultures seeking new adventures and friends around the globe. I'm an actor, writer, and director for film and stage and seeing and exploring our world very much helps me enrich my experiences to become a better artist and human being. I have a nice day job that keeps the lights on and I work with great people. FOR POTENTIAL SURFERS: I can only accommodate ONE traveler. Small space, unfortunately. I will not accept more than one guest. NO PETS. And I don’t have a “backyard you can camp in”. That’s not what this is about for me. Please demonstrate that you've read my profile and are not only interested in the free couch. Couchsurfing is not just about couches, it's also about community. Requests that are not personalized that give me vibes of the couch being what it’s all about will immediately be denied. Also, I get a lot of requests from people going to San Francisco. Santa Rosa is not San Francisco. The Bay Area is a large place. Where I live is an hour away by car and two by bus from San Francisco. Please read carefully. Lastly, please tell me in your message why you want to stay with me specifically. I don’t say yes to anyone I don’t feel I’d have a connection with. I prefer to host travelers and people who are interested in spending time with me as well. Ideally, we should have at least a little in common. Also, I have no yard in my apartment complex, so you cannot pitch a tent or camp, etc. Finally, last minute requests are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT for me. I'm very planned and very busy. Please feel free to ask, but just know that if there's not at least a week or two in planning, the chances of it working out are low. If I can tell you haven’t really read my profile, I’ll just deny and not write a response. Let’s be respectful of one another. PHILOSOPHY "There is only today." I think it is a shame that I live in a country where so many people are so closed off to the magnificence and beauty of the world around them and the people and culture in it. Getting lost and exploring a new culture or location is part of the fun of traveling. I've met some truly amazing people around the world some of whom I'm still in good contact with. I am looking forward to knowing more faces and places!
I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Lived in Santa Cruz for about 15 years. Moved to Sonoma County 21 years ago. I enjoy meeting new people and am open to hosting travelers. Ideally, one person (the room has a twin bed) but 2 is fine if one person is OK sleeping on an air mattress or camping pad (room is carpeted). I prefer a female guest. I will consider a male guest if you have positive references here on Couchsurfing and tell me how to find you online and confirm who you (like social media, work website, online articles). I'm also very busy. So, it's important to me that my guests are independent. I'm happy to tell you great places to visit in my area but it's not likely I will be available to take you myself. I do get out to walk and hike in the local parks near me. You're welcome to come along. Guests are welcome to be in my home when I am home. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and put some food in the fridge. Please be thorough cleaning up after yourselves. Sonoma County is beautiful with many County Regional Parks and State Parks, the Russian River, a few small lakes, and many miles of coastline with beautiful beaches and gorgeous views from the cliffs. Sonoma County has lots of great restaurants and great markets (Whole Foods is 12 minutes away, Trader Joe's is 10 minutes, within 5 minutes is our local market Oliver's, Safeway and Rayleys) if you want to cook at home. Plus, we have Scandia (mini golf), the EpiCenter (with laser tag and arcade), Train Town (town of Sonoma), Paintball and Airsoft (in Petaluma) and it's an hour drive to Six Flags in Vallejo and an hour to San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley. If you have seasonal alergies, please know this is likely not where you want to be in the Spring. Offshore wind blows pollen east, over the land. The best place for people with allergies is at the coast where there is no pollen. I do have an air filter you can use in the guest room that helps clean the air.

Like most of the people on this site, I love traveling, seeing new places and meeting new people. I am a gay man that likes hiking , watching movies, reading, swimming, drawing, photography, learning Spanish, gardening and cooking. I'm not into partying or dancing for hours. I'd rather go for a walk or a hike , have a nice chat, chill somewhere nice, discover new places and people. PHILOSOPHY I have enjoyed many wonderful experiences while traveling the world, especially the kindness and openness of others. Personal philosophy... "live and let live." "Life is a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved", "My ego is not my amigo". Yo soy de mente abierta.
Below is my extremely old profile, which I haven't updated. Entering this website back since 2013. woah! Well, Now I am running a foundation to help kids in africa to deliver water to remote village schools under Olekiroshi.com My life has completely shifted and I am happy to share it with you. I’ve lived at a refugee camp in Germany. I had to pretend to be a Christian in order to get a college education at a religious university, the only school that accepted me without bribe money in Ukraine, my country of birth. Having to run away from skinheads in Eastern Europe became very old very fast but, fortunately, I was able to immigrate to the US and eventually became an American citizen because of my refugee status. I am now a top performing IT specialist at Apple’s office in California. I live in my Mercedes van because I don’t value material comforts. It’s no big deal to me because I always remember the harsh conditions I grew up in. I prefer saving my money for non-material possessions, investing in my experiences , travels and other things that I highly value. I’ve decided to participate in CS because I know very well how lonely it can feel to be in a city where you don’t know anybody. I owe my own success in life to other people that had helped me in time of need. My mission is to share with fellow open-minded, adventurous travelers the message of strength, confidence and courage to win against all odds. I believe in great powers within, and sharing thoughts with fellow travelers really helps us to connect to those inner powers. Besides being a hardworking IT, I am an avidly active mate! Love hiking steep mountains, doing yoga, boot-camp, playing tennis at times and extreme camping in wild nature! PHILOSOPHY Live to be yourself. Don't procrastinate, - enjoy life now! :)
☮F*CK the war!🕊 "Tourists don't know where they've been, travelers don't know where they're going." - Paul Theroux Well its always hard for me to describe myself. According to the references, Im an open minded, nice and polite smart guy, who smiles a lot and always tries to help in any possible way. I dont want to see only tourist attractions, I want to meet PEOPLE! Happy to help you, just let me know how! LGBTQ friendly, but I'm straight (no dirty offers please haha). Really sorry for that disclaimer but I've got tons of crazy requests lately. 2024 UPDATE: asylym seeker in United States, looking for a job and travelling to dig this interesting country!

CURRENT MISSION To stay happy ABOUT ME Aggrhrrhg... I hate this part of talking about myself. I love chocolate. I really love chocolate!!! Well… I am originally from Israel/Palestrine, but now starting the RV life in the US. I guess that above all I am a happy person. I make music for living, and for loving. I practice meditation. Either by sitting every morning with my eyes closed for 30-40 minutes, or by really concentrating when I eat chocolate. I would like to consider myself as one who lives off grid, but it will be a lie. But I do try… I just moved to live fulltime van life. 97% vegan. Left winger. Emotionally involved with social, political, and environmental issues. I try to be in the water on a daily basis. I try to dance with myself on the beach (or wherever) on a daily basis. I think meditation is the solution to 86.73% of the world's problems. I've stopped watching TV at the age of 16. Except for 30 minutes a week to see The Simpsons. I started by saying that I hate talking about myself, and ended up writing… and writing… 🤓 PHILOSOPHY Oh. Fuck it. Just give me a loving hug and we'll forget about everything.
