I'm lucky. I am a bit of a coward. I generally mean to do good. I am mundane but sometimes I surprise certain people. I'm a mother of more kids than I can believe.
Recent Update: I'm trying to be more domestic (stay in US instead of wandering around the universe :P) so I do have more availabilities to host but I'm also out of town pretty often for meditation retreat. I live in Redwood shores of bay area which is almost 1hr drive from San Francisco and 0.5hr from silicon valley (Palo alto, Mountain View, Santa Clara etc). And there's no convenient public transportations other than Uber/Lyft. So if you would like to couchsurf at my place, please do consider rent a car or prepare for the effort of either long commute or expensive ubering. Will be happy to meet you in person, share life stories and create new memories. ---------------------------------------------------------- 2023 ------------------------------------------------------------ A I/ENFP (mbti personality) tech/anti-tech social/anti-social complicate creature, who is currently on her gap year maybe also turning point of the life. Adventurous, outdoorsy, addicted to deep conversations. Holding life philosophy of no free will, living at the moment and being 100% present. I was born and grew up in China, in a small town close to Shanghai. I moved to united states for grad school and have been working and living in bay area (north california) for 10+ years. Then I quit my job from meta early this year to give myself a chance to live a different life. I started to pick up meditations, life coaching, learning to detach, kitesurfing, solo backpacking, more reading/writing/documentaries. Enjoying meeting people from different background/culture and encountering different perspectives.
Hello! My name is Juan Andrés and I from Argentina. (I know you’ve already read it, but was the best way to start I could find) I'll be travelling this year and next one (hope with no stop). I’m a good guy, easy to get along with, always joking and laughing. I’m respectful of everywhere I go and do like to keep things clean and in order. I’m looking forward to meet people, but not like hotel stuff. People to bond over, have interesting and deep conversations. Also talk and laugh about silly stuff. Meet people who help me to get to know the city, as I’m not crazy about normal attractions/activities for tourists (I don’t consider myself one). I mean, for sure there is good stuff to visit (popular doesn’t mean bad necessarily) but I enjoy places where not all the people go, like the “the pub around the corner” that I may don’t find in a guide. What I’m crazy about is music. I like to compose songs, I’ll take my guitar so hope you enjoy me! Also I want to improve my languages, especially french. I’ll talk to everyone who gets on my way: people, animals, stones, etc.
I like to visit new places, meet new people, and experience different cultures. Love hiking, swimming, and biking ... Here are my favorite places in San Francisco and around: San Francisco: 1- Palace of Fine Arts 2- Golden Gate Bridge (Vista Point) 3- Twin Peaks 4- Pier 39 5- Ferry Building 6- Golden Gate Park (also Japanese Tea Garden and Botanical Garden inside the park) 7- Crissy Field 8- Angel Island 9- Ocean Beach ------------------------------------- Bay Area and Around: 10- Santana Row, San Jose 11- Redwood Park 12- Boardwalk, Santa Cruz 13- Stanford University Campus

CURRENT MISSION To live a fulfilling life with minimal worries and fully experience what comes to me ABOUT ME San Francisco is my home base. I consider myself active, easy going, and try to keep my mind open for new things. I travel whenever I can and whenever the job financing the travels allow me. I think CS is a phenomenal idea as part of what's great about traveling is the fascinating people I meet along the way that really open my eyes and bring perspective to my life. PHILOSOPHY "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness" - Mark Twain
I am a co-founder and former CEO of CouchSurfing. I last worked full-time for the company in 2012 (and was involved in some way from 2004-2015). CURRENT MISSION To cultivate a heart as peaceful, joyful, and lovely as that of a flower. -- Toshitsugu Takamatsu ABOUT ME I am a truth-seeker (a philosopher), a traveler, a warrior, a businessman. Getting more mellow as I enter my mid-40's (relative to the crazy adventure-seeker I was for some of my 20's), but determined to keep the spark alive. Still have high hopes and dreams. PHILOSOPHY An act of kindness is never wasted. Always strive for perfection. Never forget where you came from. Remember what is important. What you do in life echoes in eternity.
CURRENT MISSION To make a mark everywhere I may go. To absorb cultures like a traveling sponge, and to meet some of the most open-minded, adventurous people on the planet! ABOUT ME Amytza, like Pizza. Quirky, ambitious, intellectually curious, impulsive. Entertainer, educator, explorer! Spring 2008: I studied abroad at the University of Valencia, SPAIN. Western Europe as my home base, I CS'ed 7 countries in 7 months: Spain, Ireland, France, Italy, Holland, Portugal, and England. Summer 2009: Travelled Turkey with my college's Middle East Coexistence House. Moved to Los Angeles as a TEACH FOR AMERICA corps member and I've been West Coastin' ever since. Spring & Summer 2014: ROOTS: Exploring my ancestry, I studied Arabic during a 6-week intensive course in Muscat, Oman. Then I led an American group of female teenagers through Spain as we learned about arts & social change i.e. performing flamenco in Granada. 2015-2016: Private tutor to children working in entertainment: performers on the Broadway national tour of "A Christmas Story: The Musical" & actors on Nickelodeon TV Show "Talia in the Kitchen" I frequently visit New Jersey/New York because my family and lifelong friends live there. I also love visiting Puerto Rico and India because I have family in both places. PHILOSOPHY A traveler's instinct tells him/her to never stop learning. That's why we keep travelling. To learn and to experience. Looking to challenge what I already know, and to discover places, people, and ideas that I've never imagined.
Hey there, fellow wanderlusters! I'm Sina, a recent doctor - software engineer with a special love for healthcare technologies, on a quest to find the perfect cup of tea! I code by day, philosophize by night, and spend weekends exploring far-flung corners of the world, one awkward conversation at a time. My life, much like my Spotify, is a blend of "quiet" and "chaos." If we end up in the same location, hit me up for an exotic tea - drink - walk in your favorite museum - swapping life secrets - or challenge me to your most grueling work-out session! Safe travels and see you out there! Cheers,
Please do not send messages to meet up individually. Update - Living in San Francisco again. Still settling into the new place so not available to host right now but happy to meet up at CS events! Born and raised in northern California but it's hard to pick a hometown since I l have lived in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, went to undergrad at UC Davis and lived in two more Sacramento suburbs. I left California after college and moved up to Seattle, Washington where I worked as an analyst for 5 years. Then I decided to fulfill my childhood dream of living abroad by moving to London to pursue my MBA. I love having intellectual discussions with different people. My other interests include traveling, restaurants, bars and dancing. One of my main hobbies is a dance style called American Tribal Style Belly Dance. It is a modern fusion belly dance and group improv dance style and I have been able to take classes all over the world with different teachers when I travel! So I am always on the lookout for local teachers when I travel and you are welcome to join me in a class if it is something that interests you! "The world is full of great and wonderful things for those who are ready for them."
Sin biografía aún, probablemente está explorando por ahí
I’m a software engineer who’s traveled through a few scattered European and Asian countries as well as a lot of North American countries. I’m looking forward to eventually seeing more. I’m a martial artist and enjoy wrestling, yoga, hiking, games and TV. I live in a sort of woodsy area north of San Jose and have a couch for me could sleep on
Stanford engineering student turned marine turned hitchhiking hippy turned Silicon Valley techie (what horrors await next?) I'll talk your ear off about politics, history, weird animals I saw on my trip, and the role of technology in social change. On-off Couchsurfer over the past decade, but had some of my most memorable travel experiences via this community! Currently living in the Bay Area, California & excited to find ways to give back any way I can! ~~~~~~~~ Unfortunately unable to host during July/August of 2024 as I'm out of the country traveling thru Spain / Poland / Ukraine / Germany. Happy to help with any questions or recommendations for San Francisco and the Bay Area though! :) ~~~~~~~~
