ABOUT ME My best friend would say that I am very committed to social justice and although can be serious like to have fun as well. I can be silly and have a good and healthy nerdy sense of humor. I'm a very respectful and responsible person. Learning to play trumpet and snare drum in the local Honk band recently and hope to do more of this. Before moving to Boston I lived in Havana, Cuba where I taught US study abroad students about Cuba and teach Cuban students studying historical preservation and museum studies English. Now I teach public health and medical anthropology at a local College in Greater Boston area. I am a mother of a 5 year old. LGBTQ+ activist and inspired by Disability Justice and Reproductive Rights movements. I grew up Quaker.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE Met a group of couch surfers in Havana and helped show visitors around. Stayed with great hosts in Paris when I went to an Anthropology conference there. Hoping to Couchsurf at some conferences in the coming year.
Música, películas y libros
old time, anything with beautiful harmonies, folk, singer songwriter, cuban
Una cosa increíble que he hecho
Pre having a kid: One of the coolest things I have seen is a guy making pulled noodles in China. They pull and fold, pull and fold, on and on until "snap" the long tube of folded dough becomes noodles! Very cool. The blue of the Caribbean in Cuba. It is just SOOO amazingly blue. It is my favorite color Today: Giving birth to a human and feeding it with my body! Being a parent (it is an extreme sport!).
Enseña, aprende, comparte
Anthropology, life in Cuba and in the US. I can teach English or Spanish as well and love to sing. Talking about birth, breastfeeding and the way we all should care for parents and families.
Lo que puedo ofrecer a los hosts
Can make a cuban meal, can teach Spanish, cuban salsa, dominoes. Talk your ear off about birth and breastfeeding (or not, your preference!).
Mis intereses
Before moving to Boston I lived in Havana, Cuba where I taught US study abroad students about Cuba (my PhD was about growing economic inequalities in Cuba) and Cuban students studying historical preservation and museum studies English. I love learning things about urban areas, archeology, and local history of places I visit and how these subjects are presented to visitors so I can share these lessons with my students. I also love making music (I'm new to this!) I am a La Leche League Leader and provide peer breastfeeding support through a couple different organizations as a volunteer. I am also a Doula.
