I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania this summer. It's a five day ordeal to walk all the way to the top, and on the final night you start walking at midnight. At 30 degrees below (F*) and 16,000 feet, your water bottle freezes, people are going to vom-city all around you and there's this terrible lingering headache. We walked for six hours up the volcanic cone to Gilman's point. Just as we crested the peak, the sun began to rise, and as it got higher and higher we could see where we were and the way Africa lay out to the horizon in every direction. Best sunrise of my life, I felt like superman taking my strength from the sun's rays and it was sort of like, "yeah, i totally understand why we just did that."
