Hello from a small family in Karabük, Turkey — me, my wife, and our daughter who's deeply into music. And then there's Duman, our cat: technically a pet, but really the fourth member of the family. He's completely silent, yet he never leaves our side — always quietly looking for us, room to room. We don't take him on trips; he's our quiet companion waiting at home :) I'm an academic by day and a software developer by evening — two different kinds of curiosity that feed each other. In my free time I play table tennis; a good opponent is always welcome. Our daughter lives and breathes music; there's always an instrument or a song playing in our home. Most of our life happens outdoors. Motorcycling is our shared family passion — the wind, the road, and being able to share long silences together. One day we hope to switch to caravan life and chase longer routes; for now, we're rehearsing that dream. We're on Couchsurfing because we love meeting new people. Hosting travelers from different cultures, sharing meals, watching our daughter pick up new songs and new words from them — that's the best part for us. Karabük isn't a typical tourist stop, but right next door is Safranbolu, a UNESCO World Heritage town with cobblestone streets and Ottoman houses. We'd be happy to show you around and share local food. Academia, software, music, motorcycles, or a good table tennis match — whichever it is, we're up for the conversation. Looking forward to meeting you 🏍️🎶🐈

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
For me, Couchsurfing isn't about cheap stays or tourism — it's a way of meeting people. I believe you get to know a city best through someone who lives in it, and a culture best at their dinner table. A hotel room gives you a view; a stranger's home gives you a story, a friendship, sometimes a lifelong bond. We're here as a family because we want our daughter to learn about the world not just from books, but from the accents of the people who walk into our home, the songs they bring, the roads they describe. Every guest, for us, is a small world entering our house. And one day, when we hit the road ourselves — maybe in that caravan, maybe on the bike — we hope to sit at the table of someone who opens their door to us. Give first, receive later; that's how the order seems to work.
Una cosa increíble que he hecho
Duman walked in from the street one day and settled in as if he'd always been there. The way a cat could enter our lives so quietly, yet so deeply, still amazes me. Sometimes the best things arrive without knocking.
Enseña, aprende, comparte
I can teach: Home-style Turkish recipes, the hidden corners of Karabük and Safranbolu, conversations about academic research and software development, a few table tennis tips, and the small art of riding safely on long roads. I'd love to learn: Music from your country (our daughter will take notes immediately), recipes from different cuisines, road stories — especially from people living the caravan life, a few words in a new language, and anything I don't know from your field or craft. I'm happy to share: A warm meal, the quiet company of a cat (Duman will want to meet you too), good coffee, motorcycle talk, a song played by our daughter, and Karabük's unhurried rhythm.
Lo que puedo ofrecer a los hosts
When we're your guests, we try to be a small family contribution to your home, not a burden. We're quiet and tidy guests — we adapt to the rhythm of your home, respect your boundaries, and leave things as we found them (hopefully a bit cleaner). We make our own beds, wash our dishes, and yours too if needed. Even though our daughter is young, she knows her own responsibility; she's a quiet and respectful guest at home. We can bring a Turkish dish to your table — mantı, lentil soup, or anything you'd like from our family kitchen. We love cooking together, so feel free to join us in the kitchen. Turkish coffee is on us too, best served with long conversation. I can help with something software or academic-related — a CV, a website, a research idea, a coding problem. If you love music, our daughter will probably play you a song; even if you don't, she'll probably play one anyway :) My wife brings warm conversation and a good laugh — she's the joy of our home. And we're good listeners. Sometimes a guest arrives just so the host can finally tell a story they haven't told in a long time. We're ready for that too.
