Flint, Michigan, United States
You're walking down by Willson Park and you see a guy with a whiteboard asking people: "What's your story?" Would you share? What would you share? What if that whiteboard said: "Hear to listen to your political thoughts" What would you share then? Great news! My name's Storytelling Salem and I'm going on my fourth tour across America asking strangers that I meet along the way: "What's Your Story?" then listening to whichever stranger wishes to share their story. (I'll listen to you with my full gift of attention-this means: No judgement giving/no perception giving/no advice giving/no tape recording/no video recording- just practicing what it means to listen to my fellow citizen- with my full gift of attention as they take on the questions on my whiteboard. (or whatever else they wanna talk about.)) Because of the political show occurring around us; I decided for this year- ill be hosting a "Listening Tour" in different cities almost every other day or so. If you find yourself in the area; on May 9th from 1-4:20pm- I invite you over to "Be Heard." I'll be sitting down by the chairs in the event picture above; off Kersley st-across the st from Willson park with a whiteboard. At 1pm my whiteboard will ask: "What's Your Story?" At 2pm my whiteboard will say: "Hear to listen to your political thoughts" at 3pm; my whiteboard will say: "Hear to listen." (Note: I don't need to know your name if you don't share it. To me; you're but a voice from Flint sharing their story or perception on the reality around them. (A voice to represent a time and a place of the future's past). If we find ourselves with a group of people; we can just go around in a circle and share one person at a time. If you find yourself just joining us; mid circle- I ask you to not turn away but feel free to find the end of the circle; and just join in verbally when its your turn. Please don't interrupt your fellow citizens; please practice not judging one another for a night. This is a "Listening event" And all are welcome. -Salem (PS: Got questions? please feel free to message me.) ***Edit1: Feel free to bring a beach chair!
