How is life in Apeldoorn?

Hey guys,

I currently live in Amsterdam but might move to Apeldoorn for a new job. I am basically wondering how life there! Coming from Amsterdam, I am used to a dynamic, boiling city life, which I can imagine is quite different in Apeldoorn due to the small size of the town.

However I heard very nice things about it and am wondering whether there are nice facilities, places and/or groups for sports, music and concerts, and if there are nice (young) people to hang out with and share flats!

I look forward to hear your impressions on the city and any tips you have for a nice life in Apeldoorn!

Hi Hugo! I very recently moved out of Apeldoorn but lived there for almost two years. Apeldoorn is a lively city with beautiful green areas and beautiful big old houses. However, it is nothing compared to Amsterdam.. Apeldoorn is a very quiet city, not very young, and not very lively. There's a street in the end of the mainstreet where you can find spme bars and clubs, but it's not really great. If the weather is good you can find quite some people going out and partying, however, I was always amazed by the large quantity of "adults" partying and not so many youngsters (20-30 yo).

There are some other things to do there, like going to the movies, out to a good restaurant, bowling, pool and dards.. There is also a university that is rather groing with international students (Wittenborg) and more and more of them are coming every year. Maybe it's a good idea to find a roomate from Wittenborg to share a house. (I graduated from there and people are really very nice). If you need any more ideas or suggestions, have any questions or want some acquaintances you can always ask me :)

Hi!

I have been working in Apeldoorn for about a year now, running a small lunchroom where mentally disabled people get working experience. I am used to places like amsterdam, and it´s really different. Not so many young people and ´new concepts´ dont take off so easily. But after a year of getting to know the place, there is actually a creative scene and there appear to be a lot of students. So basically, there ís nice stuff going on down there and I am trying my very best to make it even better :) Hope to see you there!
