To be brown on the motherland

I find myself struggling with emotional burdens, as a brown female and a minority. The ignorance and disrespect cuts deep. There are days when I sweep the pain under a rug but on a smile then I have days when I want to burn down my countrymen. I hold on to Christ and pray on those days.

Hey friend, obviously I can't know exactly what you're experiencing or feeling, but your words evoke the existential anger I feel at the damage eurocentric imperialism has done to our people the world over. So much so that even in our place of origin, we are often not welcomed, appreciated or embraced. I can only words in an attempt at comfort. I hope there is excitement and joy that initially motivated your travels that you can reach into and draw upon for strength and perseverance in the face of the adversity. I know it's unfair to ask even more strength of a brown female in this world, but I hope even the smallest kindnesses and positive moments you've experienced can continue to propel your progress in those oft unsafe spaces. I send you love, good will and power (from the US West Coast).
