Hiking in Maine

Hey All,

I'm hoping to meet up with a few people to go hiking with in Maine. I don't have any camping equipment, so I'm really looking to just to a few long day hikes here and there in different areas in Maine. I can't go too far out and I don't have a car, but so far I'm interested in Arcadia National Park and Mount Katahdin. I know those two aren't near each other, but if anyone would be interested in checking those out with me or others that would be great. I'm also looking for suggestions on the best hiking spots in Maine and the ways to get to them (in case I can't get access to a car).

Something that might be worth looking into is the “Maine Huts and Trails.” Its basically a trip that you can set up with the organization where you hike for a few miles up to this hut with an amazing view. (And calling it a hut is a huge understatement. It takes more than a million dollars to build one... so they are very nice). You can stay overnight for a certain amount of money and you can opt to have food served to you if you wish (although that option I believe depends on the time of year that you go). Either way, if you took a quick look on their website, you might find something that really entices you to go to the huts.
