JFK Airport to Penn Station
Hello! I have read there are some work on the metro going from JFK to Penn Station via Jamaica. So what I don't understand, is it still possible to go by AirTrain and the metro from JFK Airport to Penn Station NYC?

Here you go Agne, the MTA has an Emergency Website and they also recommend that you sign up for free email and text alerts. If you're planning on using the subway that's the best way to stay informed of service changes or outages.
Take airtrain from jfk to jamaica station and when you arrived to jamaica station take LIRR train. This train directly goes to penn station and it is very convenient
Yes. Airtrain and metro - we call it the Subway - are running normally. Work at Penn Station is finished, which didnt affect either of those services directly. There may be work being done on the Subway but Penn Station will always be accessible. Take the E train (Subway)from Jamaica. You can also take the Long Island Railroad, a commuter train, to Penn Station from Jamaica. More expensive but half the time. You can also take the A train from Howard Beach which is another stop on the Airtrain.
As Ruth said, you may take the A or E/J train. It all depends where in NYC you are going. Keep in mind that when you arrive to JFK you will pay for the AirTrain at the exit (it sometimes puzzles people lol) now, the card you use to pay for the AirTrain (metrocard) can also be used in the subway. So don't trow it out. About the work, there is always work being done during the weekend especially. However, the MTA will always give you alternatives.
Yes, ditto to Ruth and Luis. from JFK take the Airtrain to Jamaica Station (is $5 to exit). once you are out you can take the LIRR which should take about 20 mins from the Jamaica Station (+/- $10) or you can also take the E train (subway) which should take about 45 to 50 mins (+/- $2.50).
What's wrong with these people: You take the Airtrain to Howard Beach and the A-train into Manhattan! Just used the A and there was no problem whatsoever. No need to go to Jamaica at all, the A stops at Penn Station.
Simply text me and I will pick you up and drive by car.
I would highly recommend that you took the AirTrain to Jamaica Station then to the LIRR. You will be in Penn Station in 30 minutes.
I did that yesterday. Totally worth it.
No! No! No! I've made the trip hundreds of times! The fastest, most efficient and least costly way is public transportation. Board the Q-10 Bus at the Airport (probably at Terminal 4). Go the last stop which is the Subway (underground) station Union Turnpike-Kew Gardens. Board the Down Town "E" train to Pennsylvania Station. It's as easy as that, and you only need one fare because the transfer to the Subway is free (if you have a Metro Card). Joseph London --- Licensed New York City Tour Guide
